Years ago I took my first ride on an Airboat through the Florida Everglades as part of a Field Trip in school. (have I mentioned how much I love being a Floridian!?) So when I saw that part of Brandcation was going to include the Boggy Creek Airboat Rides I was thrilled!
An Airboat is a flatbed boat that has a huge fan on the back that propels you literally OVER the swamp like terrain that makes up so much of the Florida ecosystem. It is a much safer and ecofriendly way to travel this area, since traditional boats (with the motor under water) can disrupt the sealife under the water, PLUS with an airboat you can easily go from water – over land – and back to water. It’s actually a pretty cool ride!
The morning we headed to Boggy Creek it was a “crisp” 40ish degrees. (to this Florida girl it may as well have been -20!) I hopped on the first ride out and sat huddled between several of my sisters to keep warm. After getting snuggled in between Katie and Jessica we were off!

It was actually a really fun ride despite the freezing temperatures. We saw literally hundreds of birds flying all through the mangroves. There is even a house kinda “hidden” between the Spanish Moss. Absolutely beautiful.
Thank you to Boggy Creek Airboat Rides for hosting all of us (and freezing with us!) for a fun ride around the Central Florida Everglades!
