Adopt a Turkey!! (I’m Serious…)

For as long as I can remember I have been a huge advocate for animals. I have adopted wolves, pandas, manatees, and whales through the World Wildlife Federation. In high school I joined PETA and launched a boycott of several companies that test on animals.   I to this day will only purchase products that are cruelty free and my favorite breed of any animal is “rescued” – shown by my houseful of formerly homeless furbabies. So when I was asked if I would help spread the word about the Adopt a Turkey Project which helps birds rescued from deplorable farming conditions live a long and happy life, I was happy to oblige.  I mean, who can say “no” to this face?

Pinterest Fail – Baked Zucchini Chips

Last week I picked up a few beautiful zucchini from the grocery store without really knowing exactly what I wanted to do with them. Normally I would slice them up, coat them with cornmeal and fry them up perfectly… but I wanted something a little more healthy this time.  So naturally I hit up Pinterest to find something to do with them.  The very first Pin was from SkinnyMs and looked like a simple recipe I could do with the ingredients I had on hand.

The recipe was simple – mix just a few ingredients together, coat the sliced zucchini and bake… how can I screw this up, …right?

Sequin Wine – Add a Little Sparkle to your Day

sequin wineA few weeks ago I was asked to try Sequin Wines – a light effervescent line of wines from Manteca, California.   As usual I took them to Bunco Night to let my girlfriends all take a sip. I play Bunco with the most awesome women in the world… and they are also very honest.

We got a chance to try the Pinot Grigio and the Rose.  Of the ladies who tried the wines at Bunco we were at a 50/50 split for who-liked-which-one-better.  I liked both.  In fact this was the first Pinot Grigio that I really enjoyed.  Normally they are too dry for me, but I really liked this one. Maybe it was the bubbles.

Shimmering with fine bubbles, Sequin Pinot Grigio and Rosé can be enjoyed on their own or as the lead role in a stylish cocktail. Each sip of Sequin delivers sweet aromas and flavors that are special enough to make moments shine, yet light enough to enjoy every day. Luckily, your indulgence is also your reward, because Sequin is lower in alcohol than an average glass of wine.

Irony At It’s Finest…

Today as I was driving home from the Personal Trainers Studio I pulled up behind this lady… and I could not help but grab my camera. It has been a long time since I have seen irony so delightfully displayed.

A #SeasonOfChange

I think I am one of the few people in the world who loves “change.”  Change to me is always exciting, always inspiring, and mysterious – an adventure wondering what is coming next.   Some change is good, some is bad, some change will take you to your knees. But in the end, everything has always worked out and I could not be happier with my life just exactly the way it is – scars and all.

In my lifetime I have experienced enormous change – The day my parents split up.  The day the hurricane wiped away our home. The day I packed my car and moved to Oklahoma.  The day I brought my daughter home. The day I decided I could not be married to him anymore.  The day I lost my best friend.  The day I sat crying in a courtroom.   The day I moved in to my new apartment – with a blow up mattress on the floor.  The day I asked for help with my credit card machine.  The day I moved in to my new house.  The day I quit my job. The day I stepped on that first stage.

Each change brought on a new “season” of my life and each time my life has changed in drastic and amazing ways.  Every time I knew it was coming – like there was something in the air.  Something was changing, something was shifting, something big was about to happen… and I feel it again.

As I sit here looking at my life – realizing that a new “season” of my life is upon me… I can’t help but be amazingly, unbelievably, incredibly… EXCITED.  This is my #SeasonOfChange… and it is gonna be BIG.
