Giving Thanks For Friends – a Pre Thanksgiving Feast
Last week among the craziness of my Dad being rushed to the hospital, my three best friends and I took time for a “Pre Thanksgiving Feast” to simply celebrate each other and how thankful we are to be in each others lives. Together our families total 15 people- so we can certainly call this a “FEAST!” 🙂
Christy fried a 15 pound turkey… it was AMAZING. I was in charge of the sides – five pounds of potato salad, three pounds of fried zucchini, green bean casserole, and corn bread balls (made in the Cake Pop Maker of course!! Mary mastered the timing for the cornbread!) Kristy had dessert – a HUGE pan of chocolate cheesecake brownies… oh. my. gosh. YUM. And Mary got all of our drinks – and has me now hooked on Green Tea.
It was SUCH a great time! I was amazed at how well all of the kids got along, and how even the husbands managed to talk just about as much as us wives! My girls were a bit overwhelmed with all of the boys (Mary, it is on you to have some girls and balance this bunch out… k?) but all SEVEN children managed to get through the entire evening without a bump, bruise, or tear. Whew.
We’ve made a pact to do this no less than once a month – coming up with “themes” for each month and cooking different kinds of foods each time. With life being so busy with work and school and kids and families… it was great to just take one evening to do NOTHING but enjoy being together. (and eat WAY too much yummy food!)
One thing is for sure, I have the BEST friends – with the best families – any girl could ever ask for.
