I have the best friends a girl could ever ask for. Each month we get together for a “themed” dinner night. This month we chose Italian Night – complete with home made spaghetti, baked ziti, chicken fettucini alfredo, fresh tossed salad, cannolis, and Flip Flop Moscato wine. It was certainly a “no carb left behind” kind of night! After a long and grueling week for all of us, it was just EXACTLY what we needed to relax.
Christy made two huge pans of chicken baked ziti – the best I have ever had. I would swear she picked it up at a restaurant if she had not sent me the full recipe to blog about. 🙂 She also made bread… although she burnt one pan… we may never let her live it down.
Christy’s Dad and StepMom brought chicken fettucini alfredo – complete with mushrooms! I am going to have to hunt down that recipe – it was awesome. I know my girls would have loved that one best! They both love fettucini.
Mary and Wally brought Cannoli’s – my absolute favorite dessert in the whole wide world. If I ever learn how to make these, all weight loss attempts will be thrown straight out of the window.
Kristy brought all of the salad fixins – including a huge can of olives that I am not sure ever made it actually TO the salad as the kids and I were busy stealing them out of the can.
I made my Dad’s “Mississippi Sketti” that he used to make as a college student and SELL in the doors to make extra money. As a kid it was one of my absolute favorite meals he made, and I am stoked that FINALLY after years of trying, I have mastered the recipe.
I also picked up a few bottles of my favorite – Flip Flop Moscato. I would say that I got the Flip Flop Moscato just for this occasion… but you know me better than that. Any excuse I have to open a bottle, and I am racing to the fridge. I absolutely love the stuff – and it goes great with anything, Italian or otherwise!
It may not have been a true “Italian Night” or even TRUE classic Italian Faire, but it was a fantastic night with family and friends, and we all left just this side of a carbohydrate coma.
I didn’t take near as many pictures this time as I was too busy indulging in mass amounts of calories, but we added a few new faces to our Monthly Dinner Night, hosting a total of TWENTY ONE diners this month. I can’t wait till next month – Mexican Night – there is no telling HOW many people we will have that night! 🙂
Love you all! Thanks again for a perfect night of Friends, Family, and FlipFlop!
