On Monday the US Postal Service announced that it is ending its long standing rule that people can only be featured on a postage stamp after they have been deceased for five years, and will begin nonoring those still living including “American musicians, sports stars, writers, artists and other nationally known figures.”
The US Postal Service is asking for the public to offer suggestions on who to feature via their Facebook, Twitter, Postal Service website, or (of course) by mail.
With the decline in the Postal Services revenue due to much of the World “going virtual,” they are hoping that this will increase the interest in stamp collection, thus boosting income of stamps being purchased for collection purposes and not to be used to actually mail parcels.
Sadly, I think Lady Gagme will top the list as her popularity only seems to be growing, as she still holds the #1 spot for most Twitter Followers. In my opinion, a Lady Gagme stamp is not worth the $.43. *sigh*
If I could choose however, my top 5 stamps would be for Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Oprah, Steve Jobs, and Donald Trump 🙂
Let’s home the Postmaster General agrees.
Who would your Top 5 be?
