I began Blogging solely for business back in 2009 after reading hundreds of articles on SEO, Article Submission, etc. As a then-Workaholic (now in Recovery) I would spend hundreds of hours on posts, scheduling, learning etc. It wasn’t until about a year later that I learned more about what being “a Blogger” was all about.
In 2009 I reconnected with a friend of mine from High School – Trisha Haas. She told me she was a Blogger with a large Blogging Community and I remember saying “Oh My Gosh – ME TOO!” Thankfully, Trisha did not laugh AT ME – or at least not to my face – as then I would really not have considered myself a Blogger – more like a neurotic workaholic who *happened* to have a WordPress with a couple poorly written posts on it. She invited me to her community – MomDot – where I spent countless hours chatting, learning, editing, reading, and absorbing as much as I possibly could.
In July of 2010 I went on my first Bloggers Event – BOBNOLA – where I met and hung out with some of the most awesome women in the World. It was so cool to put a face to the
name screenname, and see and do all of the amazing events Trisha and Leah lined up for us. It was there that I decided I wanted a “personal blog” where I could write whatever I wanted, when I wanted, etc. Because I had a “business blog” I felt like I did not have quite the same freedom as many of the women I was hanging out with, and I wanted that. I put it on my “To Do List” and headed home with a handful of new friendships and about a half million new ideas.
However, I was still in my Workaholic Stage, and did not get around to starting a personal blog, instead I tried to bring personal stuff into my business blog. I didn’t like it.
In November of 2010 I went on my second Bloggers Event – Brandcation – where I met up with some of the same ladies, and many more. It was another amazing weekend where Trisha, now with the help of Kim, Blondie, and Shasta had REALLY outdone themselves! From Ziplining to Gator Wrestling to Airboat Rides, we all had an amazing weekend. There, with the help of my friends, I decided on the name for my blog – MoscatoMom.
Since then I have loved Blogging almost daily, Guest Blogging for some of my MomDot friends, and grown as “a Blogger” in just about every way. I have been asked to do some great Reviews and Giveaways to my readers, invited to participate in awesome weekly Memes, fallen totally in love with Vlogging, and every day I love it more and more.
Yesterday I was reminded of yet another reason I love being a Blogger when I met with Jessica from ThatTechChick.com for lunch to take a break from my commute from Texas to Florida. We dined at a little Seafood Restaurant in Beaumont, Texas where we talked like the best of friends. I have not seen her since being a “House Roomie” down the hall at Brandcation, but getting together again it was like no time had passed. We talked about Blogging, about hurricanes, about Texas, about our friends, and about our lives. It was such a fantastic way to spend just a quick hour as I was driving across (what feels like) the World.
So, reason #842,371 why I love Blogging… THE FRIENDS YOU MAKE!!
Although, honestly, this is probably reason #1.
