Spring Fever has hit the Moscato Household with a vengeance this year. The last few weeks I have been cleaning up, cleaning out, and purging like crazy. I have literally filled my trash cans, the neighbors trash cans, and given boxes upon boxes of stuff away.
Today I tackled my closet…. ok, all three of my closets. I can’t tell you the joy that is coming from purging all of my double digit clothing.
Sidenote: I really need to go shopping.
The one thing I haven’t been able to purge…. my shoes.
I have way more shoes than any one human should have. Some that have never been worn. Some that I have practically worn the soles off of. Some that match one shirt that I own… that I haven’t worn since I purchased it in 2009.
I realize that my shoe addiction was born from being fat. When I would go shopping and get disgusted trying to feel good in clothing, I would hit up the shoes, since they always fit my petite little feet. At least I could feel good that something was still petite and looked fabulous.
But this is nuts. The shoes are literally falling out of my closet, and making me have flashbacks from that show Hoarders that I can hardly watch without feeling nauseous.
So today I am purging my shoes. I have no reason to hold on to all of these – I can finally feel good about my reflection in the mirror… even above my ankles… and making room for a new much needed wardrobe as well as more tennis shoes. These 4″ heels are never going to help me run that marathon.
But the question is – What is a reasonable amount of shoes to have?
Once I get to purging I have trouble finding a place to stop – evident my the fact that you will not find one single magazine in my entire house. So I can’t decide really whether I should keep… well any of them.
I will keep my tennis shoes of course, since I wear those every single day at the gym. And I have a pair of brown boots and two pair of black boots – one dressy and one more “biker like” with chains and stuff. I have a pair of black sparkly flip flips that I wear sometimes. But other than that….
How many pairs of shoes do you have? Really? And how many of them do you actually wear?
Hmmm…. I think my jewelry box will be next…
