If you are on my Facebook you may noticed an obscene amount of Check-Ins at Starbucks literally all around the Southeast. I admit it. I am an addict. As someone who drives literally 4,000+ miles per month, there are few things that make me happier than Aerosmith on the radio and an Iced Caramel Macchiato chillin in the cup holder. However, there is one stretch of my trek where there is no Starbucks in sight… makes for a VERY long drive.
To my delight I was told that Starbucks has released the new “Trenta” size – ELEVEN ounces more than my beloved 30 ounce “Venti” which so far has only been able to get me about 200 miles before I am tracking down another Starbucks via GPS and AroundMe iPhone App. The Trenta is only for iced coffees and teas, which is just fine with me – I admit I have been so hooked on the Iced Caramel Macchiato I have not even tried anything else. (nor do I plan to – why change a good thing?)
But not everyone is happy about this new size – many are criticizing the Coffee Mogul for giving people “too much caffeine” and “feeding the addiction” people already have to Starbucks. (does “Supersize your Fries” ring a bell to anyone?) Isn’t it just natural progression to “go large?” Keep in mind that the “Big Gulp” which convenience stores have been selling for YEARS without question is a 44 ounce – and last time I checked, Soda had some caffeine in it too…
For me, I am tickled pink over this new size, and look forward to getting one on Sunday as I leave Pensacola, Florida for my trek across 5 states to Fort Worth, Texas. Maybe now with a Trenta Iced Caramel Macchiato Highway 49 won’t suck quite so bad.
