“Recipes For Life” by Linda Evans *Giveaway*

When I was a young girl I remember sitting and watching Dynasty with my grandmother.  Linda Evans played Krystle Carrington, in a role that would win her five Golden Globe nominations, a Golden Globe in in 1982, five People’s Choice Awards, and an Emmy nomination.  I remember sneaking into the bathroom trying to fix my hair like hers - wondering how she got such perfectly whispy bangs.

I knew Linda Evans only as Krystle, the beautiful, young oil tycoon’s wife; handling fear and stress with a fierce grace and elegance.  She was even known to hand out a few slaps when necessary…but Alexis deserved them!

In her new book, Recipes for Life, Linda opens up about her life, loves, work, and other “ingredients” that have made her the woman she is today.

“Linda has joyously combined her two passions in life – people and food – into a mouth watering memoir.  And just like the lady herself, it’s Delicious!” ~ Kathie Lee Gifford, TV Personality and New York Times Best Selling Author

I had the pleasure of checking out an advance copy of Recipes for Life and I am not sure which I enjoyed more – the humorous and heartwarming stories of her life, or the amazing recipes that accompany her stories.  The “Lose Your Figure Potatoes with Cheese and Garlic” sound absolutely amazing, and will be making a debut on our Thanksgiving Table this year for sure!

You can see an excerpt of the book, along with the recipe for the “Lose Your Figure Potatoes“  here.

Recipes for Life  includes 40 of her favorite recipes that she has collected from world renowned chefs, celebrities, and friends.  You will also see more than 75 photos – most of which are from her own personal collection, not that of a hired photographer.   From the heartbreak of losing her father when she was just 15 to the high profile romances in the public eye, Recipes for Life has it all.

“entertaining … a madcap fairy tale filled with magical moments, romantic adventures, friendships with the rich and famous, and personal challenges … with applications far beyond Hollywood and the kitchen.” ~Publishers Weekly

I really enjoyed this book and getting to see a more personal side of Linda Evans, someone I grew up admiring so much as a child.   I am excited to order the book now that it is available (released October 11th!)  for my Grandmother for a Christmas gift.   I know she will enjoy this book just as much as I did!

The Ides of March Movie

The Ides of March hit theaters today around the country.    Based on a play by Beau Williams, Ides of March is a political drama that stars Ryan Gosling and George Clooney.

The Ides of March take place during the frantic last days before a heavily contested Ohio Presidential Primary, when up-and-coming press secretary (Ryan Gosling) finds himself involved in a political scandal that threatens to upend his candidate’s shot at the Presidency.

Check out the trailer here:

Though IMBD gives only collective 6.9 stars, the reviews seems to be mostly positive, one reviewer writing in a prediction of seven Oscar nominations.

One thing is for sure, the casting seems perfect for this movie, as one reviewer points out:

It’s a dirty business when it comes to gaining delegate votes from our election-defining state, Ohio. Ryan Gosling as campaign media guru Stephen Myers once again shows he is our premiere young actor today. George Clooney as Pennsylvania governor and presidential wannabe, Mike Morris, is believably smooth, charismatic, and smart–and stupid like the rest of his fellow humans. Philip Seymour Hoffman as Paul Zara, campaign manager, like his role in Charley Wilson’s War, is the consummate rumpled operative who has seen it all but remains vulnerable like the rest of the ambitious political animals.

I absolutely love political/law dramas and can not wait to see it.  Plus staring at Ryan Gosling and George Clooney for two hours certainly sounds like my kind of way to spend an afternoon.

Ides of March opens every where today and is rated R
