I can’t believe Summer is almost over. Only nine days left and the girls will be heading back to school
and my life will get back to normal. We have had a really phenomenal Summer this year with trips all around the country to see family and friends, and copious amounts of pool time. However, Mike and I have still had to work – and finding something that can keep BOTH girls entertained for more than 20 minutes so we can work in the mornings before we blow off the afternoon to go to the pool has been a challenge… until we got the review copy of Teen Beach Movie.
“Teen Beach Movie,” part of the Disney Channel Original Movie franchise which introduced a generation to movie musicals, follows teen surfing sweethearts Brady and McKenzie, who together ride the last wave of summer, one that mysteriously takes them into a classic beach party movie, “Wet Side Story.” There, it’s surfers versus bikers for control of the beach hangout…and everyone spontaneously breaks into song and dance. Now, Brady and McKenzie must try to return to present day, but their lives may be changed forever when they inadvertently alter the movie’s romantic storyline — and the handsome leading man, surfer Tanner is falling for McKenzie while biker girl Lela is swooning for Brady.
Now, finding something that both a 7 year old and a 14 year old will watch and enjoy at the same time can be a struggle – but Teen Beach Movie has it down. I think The Teen loves the sweet romantic love story line, while Midge enjoys the music and dancing. Mike and I love that it is good, clean fun that is appropriate for both girls. I have to admit, even I caught myself jamming out to a few of the tunes coming from the living room while I was working.
Midge also loved that she got a cute little surfboard zipper pull for her new backpack. In fact, if your kiddos are already Teen Beach Movie fans, they will love that there are all kinds of bonus features – like behind the scenes rehearsal footage of seven different musical numbers, including the never before seen “Coolest Cats In Town.”
