I think one of the joys of motherhood is getting to covet your favorites from childhood, claiming it is “for the kids.” This would explain
my the girls’ extensive collection of My Little Ponies, Fraggle Rock DVDs, and Smurfs paraphernalia. This week when I saw a trailer for the new Muppets Movie, opening November 23, I beamed. Thankfully my girls did too.
The Muppets began in 1954/1955 as “The Muppet Show” by Jim Henson, and were later purchased by The Walt Disney Company in 2004. In their 57 year span The Muppets have had 29 Television Specials, 25 Television Series, and the new movie coming in November will be the 11th Theatrical film according to Wikipedia.
The new movie, simply titled “The Muppets” is the first theatrical release in 12 years, as well as the first Disney-produced Muppets film in 15 years. From the looks of the trailers though… it was worth the wait!
The Muppets Synopsis:
On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, his brother Gary (Jason Segel) and Gary’s girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage a telethon and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. With signature celebrity cameos, Disney’s “The Muppets” hits the big screen Nov. 23, 2011.
We will be there eagerly waiting at the door when this movie opens! I cant WAIT!
