What’s In Your Fridge?

We all had so much fun with the Five Things You Would Learn About Me Blog Carnival, Trisha challenged us to do another one – this one an even bigger glimpse into our personal lives… what do you eat!?

We do our best to “Eat Clean” which means basically few things come from a box, bag, or can.  So you can imagine – the “shelf life” is almost nil.  Since the girls and I leave tomorrow for a few days and Mike doesn’t cook while we are gone,  I made sure there were a few things precooked for him, but usually this is a bit more stocked with fresh vegetables.

The Fridge:

The containers are of course the food for Mike, along with 3 eggs, one head of lettuce, and an orange.   There is also one bag of chicken and some veggies to steam in the microwave.  I keep having to remind myself that he was a bachelor and managed to eat for 28 years before I met him – he will be fine.

The one thing we ALWAYS have plenty of – is cheese.  I can eat cheese on anything.  The only thing that will ever keep me from being 100% Eating Clean is cheese.  I wont give it up.  Ever.

The beer at the bottom has been there over a year.  I know.  We use a bottle here and there for cooking (like cheese fondue) but other than that neither of us drink it … so… it sits.

The white bags on the left in the freezer… yeah those are all ice packs I use for my shin splints.  Nice, eh?

The cupboards

We do have a pantry but we use it more for storage than for food.  Like I said with “Eating Clean” you really do not need much room for dry food.  Here is our only cupboard of food:

I mentioned before I am a minimalist… right?

Oatmeal, brown rice, tuna, pretzels, tea, soup, nuts, peanut butter, and then some random snacks for the girls.  That’s about it.  And to be honest – looking at this makes me want to go clean it out cause there is WAY too much stuff in there that we dont use.  And I have no idea how a bottle of spray paint ended up in there…

Now we do have one more cupboard on the other side that seldom gets opened anymore.   In fact a few weeks ago Mike looked into it and said “When I met you four years ago, I never in a million years would have imagined I would have to have a cupboard completely dedicated to your baking stuff.”

The Cake Pop Cupboard

Thankfully I live almost within walking distance of a grocery store, as I shop every 2 or 3 days to make sure I have the freshest food possible.

Check out everyone’s pantry and link up with pics of your own over on MomDot.

Now, if you would excuse me, I am going to go clean all of this out as my anxiety is on overdrive…. thanks for the motivation, T….

  1. Very tidy … and they look a little like mine… (I need to shop too)

  2. We have a ton of ice packs in our freezer–never know when you might need them ;)

  3. Girl, you have NOTHING in that pantry! But I love you cause you are just so cool!

  4. I’m gonna need you to swing on by and arrange my pantry, please :) I’ll share my FlipFlop Moscato with you!

  5. I feel so ashamed… your fridge is spotless and your pantry is too! I think I would starve, ha!

  6. I’ll come over and bake with you sometime, that’s some great baking stuff and I love to bake but don’t keep the needed stuff to do it often LOL

  7. Your fridge (and freezer) look AWESOME!! Your cupboards are pretty great, too!

  8. I love cheese too, it would be impossible to give up! Love how organized you are.

  9. I’d love to come bake with you sometime! You are also very organized which doesn’t surprise me one bit :)

  10. Wow, I don’t think I’ve had a completely empty shelf in my freezer…EVER. I’m such a pack-rat…even with food, LOL.

  11. So tidy! We ‘eat clean’ for the most part too – our pantry is a little bit of food and lots of gadgets. And a stash of candy.

  12. So clean and organized! And with space to spare… very nice. We have stuff packed in every corner!

  13. do you even eat at your house? Its so empty..lol

    trisha

  14. I wish ours were more like yours… I don’t want so much ‘junk’ in the fridge and pantry. It’s a slow process to get everyone switched over from eating the processed to the unprocessed, but it’s worth it!

  15. My cupboards are never that neat. Even when I straighten them up.

  16. You’re so neat and organized. Want to come over to my house and organize mine?

  17. Your fridge is so neat!!

  18. I love that you have a cake pop cupboard!

  19. A whole cupboard just for cake pops? Genius.

We are the same way with beer. We buy a 6 pack and use it for cooking and such and it just sits and sits forever.

  20. I am really glad that I am not the only way with little food in my fridge but a stash of alcohol..LOL! My hubby usually buys a 6 pack or so on special occassions drinks one and then the others sit in their for months.

  21. I’m with you on the cheese. We LOVE it in our house! Oh and don’t feel bad. We also have old beer in our fridge that’s been there for who knows how long. I think it was hidden behind the milk and tea in my fridge pic, though. :)

  22. LOL the cake pop cupboard has all the fun. When you say you eat clean to you buy food each day? So don’t have a lot to store, or it is just elsewhere.

Your freezer definitely looks bare. Hope you have/had fun!

    • I grocery shop pretty much every other day. Eating Clean is nothing processed – meaning nothing has preservatives. So it only stays good for a day or two. Some veggies have a longer shelf life, but for the most part, its every 2 or 3 days I am back in there getting stuff again. :)

  23. love the cake pop cupboard! I need to pull my machine out again and try making it again. I majorly failed!

    • It probably had to do with the batter. Most cake mixes are too heavy so you get little “space ships” – try it again with Pillsbury Funfetti – it puffs up perfectly :)

  24. rust hawk says:

I have a friend who visits often and raids the fridge enthusiastically when she’s here. She always seems amazed that we have so many leftovers ….
