In 2008 I went through the hardest time of my life. I have written about it some, but some of the details are too hard to relive – even long enough to write them. My marriage ended, I lost my best friend, my career, my home, and honestly… my hope. I had to move back in with my parents to help rebuild my life and get me back on solid ground. It was the hardest, saddest time I had ever experienced and I think we were all a little unsure of where I was going to go from there.
My Uncle Jack – who really became the rock that I leaned on during that time – gave me a necklace that I have cherished since that time. It is an Open Hearts Collection necklace from Jane Seymour, and even now, five years later, it is as beautiful as the first day I put it on. He told me the philosophy behind the necklace and told me not to give up, and not to harden and close off my heart just because it had been broken. It was great advice, and I believe that is part of why I sit here typing this post – happier, more successful, and more fulfilled than I have ever been.
I am honored and delighted this year – five years after my world imploded – to be a part of the Open Hearts Influencer Program, where I get to share with you all of the new Open Hearts Collection pieces, including the new Waves collection, which “celebrates the philosophy that life is like a wave – continuously building, cresting, and releasing… always allowing for learning, connecting, and revival.” This is so fitting as I reflect back and think of the hours I spent in 2008 sitting on the beach just watching the waves, wondering how my life had ended up there.
I am excited to share with you more of the philosophy of the Open Hearts Collection, details on the new Waves collection, and more. This piece meant so much to me during a trying time, and I just love that everything has come full circle with me believing in what Jane’s mom said –
“When you leave your heart open, Love always finds it’s way in.”
