The Family Freezer Review - Is Freezer Meal Pro Worth the Cost?

By Leave a Comment

Hey everyone! For those who don’t know me, I’m a huge foodie. I love trying out new recipes and exploring different cuisines.

But like many of you, I don’t always have the time to whip up something fancy. So, the concept of freezer meals caught my attention.

With so many websites popping up offering freezer meal memberships, I decided to take a closer look at a couple of the most talked-about ones: thefamilyfreezer.com and FreezerFit.

Let's jump in!

The Family Freezer vs. FreezerFit: A Detailed Comparison

Alright, for the busy bees who just want the short version: both these sites offer some cool recipes, but after trying them out, I felt FreezerFit had a little extra sparkle. FreezerFit has five chefs and almost 1,000 recipes.

If you can only get one freezer meal membership I'd choose FreezerFit instead.

But that's just the beginning. Let’s unravel the full story.

Scoreboard Breakdown: The Nitty-Gritty

To truly understand the offerings of The Family Freezer, I decided to rate different aspects of the site. Let’s see how they fared:

Customer Service (Helpfulness of Staff):

9/10 I never posted questions or emailed support myself. But I saw they were very responsive to others and seemed very helpful and friendly.

Variety of Recipes:

7/10 From Italian dishes to Asian delights, the site offers a broad range of cuisines. Perfect for when you want to travel the world from your kitchen. The problem is there aren't very many recipes offered.

Website Features:

7/10 The Family Freezer has a few nifty features, like meal-planning tools and shopping lists. They’re helpful, but there's room for some modern touches.

Total Number of Recipes:

5/10 Over 200 recipes! While that sounds impressive, FreezerFit has almost 1,000 recipes. It's more about quality than quantity, though. More on that soon.

Ease of Navigation:

6/10 The website's design is simple, but it can be a tad confusing sometimes. I had to click around a bit to find what I was looking for.

Taste Test (Super Important!):

6/10 Okay, let’s talk flavor. While many recipes were good, some lacked that "wow" factor. But taste is personal, so you might feel differently.

Affordability:

9/10 I grabbed a membership for $77 (yay for discounts!), but the usual price is $149. Compared to other places, it's middle-of-the-road.

Overall Vibe:

7/10 The Family Freezer feels homey and genuine, but there are areas where it could shine brighter.

Now, just for context, FreezerFit scored even higher on my personal rating system.

It's like comparing two great movies but one is simply better in almost every way. If you’re curious about my deep thoughts on FreezerFit, check out my separate FreezerFit Review.

Beyond Numbers: Flavor & Experience

Having over 200 recipes is like having a large library of books. But we all know that not every book resonates. The same goes for recipes.

While I loved some of The Family Freezer's dishes (their lasagna is to die for!), a few others felt a bit bland.

And here's something I noticed: when you're working with freezer meals, you want dishes that can retain their taste and texture even after being frozen and reheated.

This can be common with freezer meals which is why everyone needs a membership with recipes designed by freezer meal experts.

Not every recipe on the site seemed to hit that mark.

Getting Comfy with the Tech

Using The Family Freezer's site felt like visiting an old-school library.

There's a charm to it, but you sometimes wish there were clearer signs pointing to where you need to go.

If you're not super techy, you might need a few tries to get the hang of it.

Price Tag Talk

When I think of spending money on a membership, I think of it as an investment. I mean, you're investing in good meals for you and your family.

So, while $77 felt like a steal, the usual $149 is reasonable too.

But it's essential to feel you're getting the best bang for your buck. Sites like FreezerFit, priced similarly, seem to offer a little more in terms of user experience and recipe quality.

Wrap-Up: Would I Recommend It?

After this whole exploration, here's my two cents: The Family Freezer is like a comfy old sweater - familiar and warm.

But sometimes, you want a sweater with a bit more style, and that's where FreezerFit comes in. With FreezerFit, even if you don't like the sweater you have a whole wardrobe of recipes to choose from.

If you're diving into the world of freezer meals, give both a try. Each has its own flavor and flair. But if you're asking for a single recommendation from a food lover who’s been cooking for a good while, I'd say take a peek at Freezerfit.com.

It’s like getting both style and comfort in one package.

BODYARMOR Drinks - Finally A Healthy Sports Drink?

By 1 Comment

#advertisement I received compensation from BODYARMOR® to write this post as part of the Mom It Forward Influencer Network. All opinions are entirely my own. #Switch2BODYARMOR

Happy New Year! Like many, one of my New Year's Resolutions is to head back to the gym and get back on track with my health and fitness goals. While I did reach my weight loss goals in 2020, I have resolved to make 2021 the year I focus less on the scale and more on my strength and endurance. When I had the opportunity to check out the new BODYARMOR SuperDrink which offers premium hydration at a fraction of the calories of most sports drinks, I knew this was the perfect opportunity for me to pack up my gym bag with all of my "must-haves" and head back to the gym.

My biggest concern with BODYARMOR LYTE was the taste - because let's face it... if it doesn't taste good, do the rest of the details even matter? I was pleasantly surprised at the taste of the BODYARMOR LYTE SuperDrink - so many sports drinks are so sweet I feel like I almost need to dilute them down. BODYARMOR LYTE is made with all natural sweeteners and had just the right amount of sweetness to make it refreshing and easy to drink - even between sets. The new BODYARMOR LYTE has all of the nutrients of the original BODYARMOR but with only 20 calories per serving! The Peach Mango was my favorite!

Is the BODYARMOR LYTE Drink Good for You?

The short answer is yes. But, just like everything else, moderation is key. Drinking too much water is even bad for you. The reason BODYARMOR is good for you is that it helps replenish electrolytes. The drink is low in sodium but it does have sodium in it. This is a GOOD thing! Some people are scared of sodium but when it comes to a sports drink, sodium is important.

Body Armor Drink Ingredients - What's Inside?

The ingredients are similar to most other sports drinks but with healthier versions in most cases. Electrolytes, low-sodium, coconut water concentrate, and carrot juice are the main ingredients that make this drink a go-to choice for athletes.

The ingredients include:

  • Filtered Water
  • Pure Cane Sugar
  • Cocunut Water Concentrate
  • Citric Acid
  • Maltodextrin
  • Pure Carror Juice Concentrate
  • Dipotassium Phosphate (electolytes)
  • Green Tea Catechins
  • Other natural flavors

Plenty of Hydration

This is where the BODYARMOR LYTE SuperDrink comes in. BODYARMOR LYTE is packed with electrolytes, coconut water, and vitamins that you need for a great workout. BODYARMOR is the brand of choice for many athletes such as James Harden, Mike Trout, Dustin Johnson, Andrew Luck, Richard Sherman, Dez Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Buster Posey, Skylar Diggins - superstar Kobe Bryant was even a shareholder! These athletes KNOW how to keep their bodies in optimum shape.

Where To Find BODYARMOR LYTE

You can find the new BODYARMOR LYTE SuperDrink at Winn Dixie, Publix, and Wawa. There is even a coupon so you can save money while trying this delicious SuperDrink for yourself!  You can also connect with BODYARMOR on Facebook and Twitter. Help achieve all of your New Years Resolutions in the gym this year with the help of BODYARMOR LYTE!

The Best Way to Meal Prep for Keto

By Leave a Comment

What's the hardest part about sticking to a keto diet, or any diet for that matter? Consistency.

You know those thoughts that creep up like "it's just one cheat meal", "there's nothing else in the fridge that's keto", "I'll get back on the diet tomorrow"?

Everyone has these thoughts and makes these mistakes. What if there was a solution to these problems? What if you had a freezer stocked with delicious keto meals that truly cook themselves and they were easy to make? This is where freezer meals come in! This way of cooking really does take all of the stress and guesswork out of sticking to your diet for good.

What Are Freezer Meals?

Freezer Meal in Bags

Freezer meals are meals that are frozen raw for up to 90 days. You label the bags and cook the meals fresh on the day you want to eat them. It's kind of like buying those frozen meals at the grocery store but those grocery store meals aren't healthy. It's very easy to prepare healthy freezer meals because you determine the ingredients yourself.

Most meal-prepped foods are bland after they've been in the refrigerator for a day or two. Most meal-prepped foods are all the same and it gets boring to eat the same things every day.

Freezer meals, on the other hand, are prepared all at once but you cook them fresh the day you want to eat them. They're easy to prepare. The meals aren't bland. They can be delicious if you have the right recipes.

Keto Recipes for Freezer Meals

Keto freezer meal recipes are different from normal keto meal recipes. Why? It's because the ingredients need to freeze correctly. You can't freeze all raw ingredients for 90 days. The ingredients need to be selected carefully to ensure they will freeze correctly and still taste great when cooked.

Take a look at this sample keto freezer meal.

FreezerFit Review

Not sure what to think of FreezerFit? I wasn’t sure either. I could not find any reviews on the internet about them but I loved the idea.

So, I joined and wrote this review to help anyone out that's thinking about signing up. If you haven't heard of them you can learn more by visiting their site.

They teach how to bulk prepare healthy freezer meals with free cooking classes you can sign up for on their homepage.

I joined for FreezerFit’s keto recipes because that’s the diet I follow. They are DELICIOUS! I know they have other recipes for vegan, diabetic, healthy, gluten-free, and more. Those recipes look great too I stuck the keto recipes.

So, is FreezerFit.com worth the price? Does it really help you save time, save money, and eat healthier? Keep reading to get all of the juicy details!

Pros and Cons

Pros

It’s so easy. It makes a shopping list for you. It adjusts your recipes for you. The site is fast and easy to navigate.

Saves so much time

When you prepare meals the way FreezerFit teaches you it saves you hours every week.

Great private community

There are comments on the recipes and there is a private Facebook group with 1,000 people in it. The members are so helpful and friendly in the group. Come interact with me there!

Fast and friendly customer service

I emailed one of the chefs to ask about the cookbooks and they replied in only 15-minutes!

So many recipes!

There are more than 600 recipes and all of them have been delicious so far.

Cons

Most recipes are for crockpot or instant pot

It’s so easy to use a crockpot and the meals aren’t mushy at all. I even cooked a lot of them in the oven or stovetop with no problems. I just like to cook on the stove.

Only a 30-day moneyback guarantee

It’s great that they offer a moneyback guarantee so there is no risk. But with major sites like Amazon offering 90 days I think this could be longer. There’s no way I would return my membership though 🙂

Price is $200 or $97 When On Sale

If you aren’t lucky enough to get it on sale the price will be $200. I think it is definitely worth $200 but it can be expensive for some. I was able to sign up for only $97 when it was on sale 🙂

FreezerFit Recipes

These recipes are made to prepare quickly. I was able to prepare a month’s worth of dinners in under 3 hours! The recipes are designed to be able to be frozen before you cook them. This will not work with all ingredients so their recipes are unique in that they can be frozen for up to 3 months.

The FreezerFit recipes were tasty and just as they say, they cook themselves in a crockpot or instant pot. I cooked some of mine in a skillet and in the oven just to try it. They have instructions showing you how to cook them this way.

With over 600 recipes on their website, you can’t go wrong. There is something for everyone and my kids LOVED the meals.

Most of the meals are main courses. There are some side dishes and desserts that are delicious. I personally joined for the main courses.

Is FreezerFit Actually Easy to Use?

YES! Preparing meals for three hours is never really easy but their printable instructions made it so easy to follow.

I was tired after preparing 30 meals but guess what!? I didn’t have to spend 30 minutes every night cooking.

The website is so easy to use. It tells me all of the instructions for cooking each meal. There are comments on the recipes from other members with tips and other ingredients to add.

FreezerFit.com Price and Coupon Codes

How much is it to join FreezerFit.com?

The normal price for the membership is $197. Sometimes they have a sale for $97.

The normal price for the membership is on the expensive side but it’s still worth it for me.

My family can easily save more than $2,000 in a year by using this membership. I still like to develop my own recipes but I cook using the FreezerFit method now because it helps save so much time and money.

If you compare the price of the membership to purchasing a cookbook you may think a cookbook is a better deal because it’s cheaper.

FreezerFit is so much more than just recipes or just a cookbook. FreezerFit adds more than 20 recipes every month and has over 600.

The website lets you print beautiful labels. You get to be part of a community. The site is more interactive than a cookbook because you can adjust servings and meal sizes. Overall, FreezerFit.com is great value for the money.

You can use the code EXTENDED at checkout and still get the $97 price. Click Here to Join for the Sale Price

The Verdict for FreezerFit.com

I love it! I do not regret joining for one second. The meals are great, the website is so easy to use, and the other members are wonderful. I give it a big thumbs up! They offer a 30-day money-back guarantee so you have nothing to lose. That's it for my FreezerFit reviews.

Best Low Carb Vegetables for Keto

There is a big misconception about the ketogenic diet that it is all "bacon and butter" - but success with keto comes with finding a balance between healthy proteins and yummy vegetables with satiating healthy fats. The best low-carb veggies are the ones you love, so finding recipes like this one will help make getting your daily intake in your low-carb diet much easier.

Some great lowest carb vegetables are:

  • Broccoli
  • Brussels Sprouts
  • Cauliflower
  • Green Beans
  • Zucchini
  • Yellow Squash
  • Spaghetti Squash
  • Bell Peppers
  • Leafy Green Vegetables like spinach, kale, and cabbage
  • Cucumbers
  • Radishes
  • Mushrooms
  • Asparagus

I have started visiting local farmers' markets in my area to choose vegetables that are locally grown and so much fresher than what I typically find at a chain grocery store. In addition to being low in carbs, these veggies are high in vitamin c, vitamin k, vitamin a, and dietary fiber.

Macros & Nutrition

Like with any low-carb recipe, you want to make sure you calculate your own ingredients for exact macro calculations and net carb counts. Using my exact recipe and my macro calculator I came up with the following:

Each serving of Roasted Low Carb Veggies has 53 calories, 2 total grams of fat, 8 total grams of carbohydrates, 6 net grams of carbs, 2 grams of fiber, and 2 grams of protein.

  • 1 ½ cups radishes
  • 1 ½ cups Brussels sprouts
  • 1 yellow squash
  • 1 zucchini
  • 1 Red pepper
  • 1 Yellow Pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp. Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon parsley
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut oil, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425℉.
  2. Wash all veggies well first, peel the zucchini and squash first if you like.
  3. Rough chop everything into bite size pieces, in general I cut brussel sprouts and radishes in half unless they were very large. These take longer to cook and will cook more evenly in smaller pieces.
  4. In a large bowl toss together the chopped veggies, coconut oil, and herbs until all vegetables are well coated in oil and seasoning.
  5. Spread vegetables out as much as you can over a large baking sheet, drizzle a little more oil on them if they are not wet enough, healthy oils are our friend.
  6. Salt and pepper to taste, I like to use a fresh ground black pepper and coarse ground sea salt when roasting veggies to really bring out the flavors.
  7. Let your vegetables roast for 20-30 minutes, depending on how softened and browned you like them. I like to leave mine in longer and get that delicious caramelized flavor and char on the tips.
  8. Remove from oven and serve with your favorite protein and healthy fats for a tasty and pretty meal!

Best Low Carb Pasta

When starting the ketogenic diet, it is important to find recipes that you love that do not leave you feeling deprived. For me, I knew pasta was a staple in my pre-keto diet life, so finding a low carb pasta that I could use in all of my favorite dishes was critical. The shell low carb pasta I used for this recipe has just 7 net carbs and 100 calories per serving of pasta. Since this full recipe is 12 servings, the carbs are even lower. As with all keto recipes, make sure you do your own calculations for accurate macros.

Click here to save 5% on your order of $50 or more with the code 2021septsavings or spend $100 and get free shipping with septfreeship2021.

For this pasta salad recipe, you want to use a pasta shape that will really hold onto the ingredients - like a rotini or shell pasta. This salad is better on the second day, so if you are taking it to a cookout, make it the day before and leave it in the refrigerator overnight.

Substitutions

To make this easy keto greek salad with pasta into a full meal, simply add a grilled chicken breast, chicken thighs, or another favorite protein along with some romaine lettuce for a nearly perfect macro meal. It is also great for meal prep and can be easily stored in a mason jar or storage container until you are ready to eat.

You can use any color of bell peppers - I prefer the yellow and orange to give it a bit sweeter of a taste. If you use green bell pepper, add a squeeze of lemon juice for an additional sweet, tangy flavor.

You can also add in a tangy feta cheese in addition to or instead of the parmesan cheese to give even more flavor. If you want a lighter salad, replace the zucchini with a sliced english cucumber.

Also the keto greek dressing is perfect for a simple cucumber salad and can be mixed in bulk and saved in an air-tight bottle to add to other low carb salads. To make the dressing a little bit spicy, add in a tablespoon of pepperoncini juice!

Storage Tips

Since this low carb greek salad is better the second day, it is best to keep it covered in a large bowl in the refrigerator. The salad stays good for up to five days, however, the low carb pasta will start to lose its consistency after about three days.

Nutritional Information & Macros

AS with any keto recipe you want to make sure you measure and calculate your specific ingredients with exact measurements for an accurate carb count.

According to Nutritionix, each serving of Keto Greek Pasta Salad has 209 calories, 17 grams of fat, 7 grams of carbs, 3 grams of fiber, 4 grams net carbs, and 7 grams of protein.

Best Earbuds with Ear Hooks

By 3 Comments

If you are looking for the best earbuds with ear hooks that have the best of everything - comfortable fit, audio quality, sweat proof, long battery life, AND at a great cost - look no further!

I have been on the hunt for the best wireless earbuds for quite some time now. I have small ears and most of the popular buds hurt after just a few minutes of wearing. Not wanting to work out with over-the-ear wireless headphones, I continued to try out different brands and styles. By far my favorite is the iLive Truly Wire-free Earbuds. Check out my full review of these super comfy earbuds that will give you hours of playtime at an affordable price.

The iLive Truly Wire-free Earbuds have super comfortable ear tips with three different size variations to choose from. They also come with three ear hook variations that easily clip on for a comfortable but secure fit. They are super lightweight and stay in my ears even when bouncing around with jumping jacks or burpees. That's impressive.

They have a built-in rechargeable battery and come in a sleek portable charging case that connects to a USB for easy charging. A single charge has 4-5 hours of battery life and a wireless range of up to 49 feet. They will connect via BlueTooth to your Apple or Android Devices where you can control what you listen to easily.

While I have not tried them in the pool yet, they are rated with IPX7 water resistance - meaning they can be submerged up to 1 meter in water for 30 minutes. I think the ear hook design would also keep them secure even swimming.

I have enjoyed wearing the iLive Truly Wire-free Earbuds while working out, but I find myself wearing them all day long as they make listening to your favorite music or podcast a breeze with active noise cancellation and easy volume controls. You can even take phone calls right through your earbuds as they have a built-in microphone too!

Whether you are listening to music, a podcast, or chatting on the phone, you get great sound with minimal background noise. Check out the iLive website to order your pair of iLive Truly Wire-free Earbuds.

Keto Lemon Loaf Recipe with Sweet Glaze

By 1 Comment

This Keto Lemon Loaf will satisfy your craving without abandoning your keto diet goals. Soft and moist, this low-carb lemon bread is full of flavor without being full of carbs.

Whether you are enjoying this for dessert or breakfast, this delicious treat will remind you of your favorite coffeehouse iced lemon loaf. This lemon pound cake is also gluten-free and grain-free as well as of course, sugar-free.

close up keto lemon loaf with glaze on white plate

This recipe is similar to my lemon blueberry bread but instead of blueberries, I added a super sweet lemon glaze to give it even more of a kick. You can also add cream cheese to the delicious glaze to make it more of a frosting.

Keto lemon pound cake recipe is one of my favorite keto desserts because it uses simple ingredients that can be found at any grocery store. Perfect for lemon lovers and those on the ketogenic diet, this one is a crowd favorite.

sliced keto lemon loaf with glaze on white plate

I made this recipe using my favorite almond flour but you can also make it with coconut flour. In fact, coconut flour is a bit lower in carbs than almond flour and gives a bit lighter texture. Coconut flour should be substituted 3:1 to almond flour - and make sure to not pack either flour when measuring.

This is one of my favorite keto recipes that everyone loves - even friends who are not counting carbs. It is a great dessert to take to parties as you can use a mini loaf pan to make bite-sized sweets to share.

overhead keto lemon loaf with glaze and bowl of fresh lemons

This lemony keto pound cake recipe has a light lemon flavor, but you can increase the flavor by adding 2 tablespoons of real lemon juice (which has only 1 carb per tablespoon) or an additional teaspoon of lemon extract. I personally like the taste of extracts, so I use them most often in my baking.

I also prefer almond extract to vanilla extract as I feel like it gives a bolder flavor that is less sweet. In fact, most of my keto cakes use almond extract.

close up small lemon loaf with glaze

Monk fruit is my preferred sugar substitute as I find it does not have the minty cooling effect that some keto sweeteners have. Plus monk fruit is rated a zero on the glycemic index and has zero carbs and zero calories. Monk fruit can be up to 300x sweeter than sugar, but you can find 1:1 ratio monk fruit at most stores. I prefer Lakanto monk fruit, but you can also use brands like Swerve and Pyure.

To make this recipe dairy-free, swap the melted butter for melted coconut oil. You can also make this a banana loaf simply by swapping the lemon extract for banana extract and leaving out the zest! Add in a tablespoon of poppy seeds to make it a keto lemon poppy seed bread! This is such a deliciously versatile recipe the whole family will love!

MACROS

According to Nutritionix, each slice of this Keto Lemon Loaf Cake has 165 calories, 14 g fat, 5 g protein, 6 total carbs, 2 g fiber, and 4 net carbs.

These Keto French Toast Bites have a bit of sweetness and a bit of savory in every bite. They are the perfect Keto Breakfast Appetizer perfect for staying on track!

womand hand grabbing keto french toast bite with toothpick

The Keto Egg Loaf is a perfect low carb breakfast with also perfect macros. I used my Egg Loaf Recipe for the base of these delicious little breakfast bites and it worked out perfectly.

These Keto French Toast Bites bring together the sweetness of the Egg Loaf and the savoriness of the bacon for the perfect bite every time. Top with fresh blueberries for an added treat.

close up keto french toast bites on white plate

I used a Mini Brownie Pan from Pampered Chef to make these, but any small muffin tin will work. Remember that the Egg Loaf expands really high while it cooks, and then settles back to normal as it cools.

These Bite Sized Breakfast treats are great for holiday parties, office parties, and other social events where you want to have a keto friendly finger food that everyone will love.

What is the best Keto Sweetener to use for Keto French Toast Bites?

Finding your favorite keto sweetener is a personal preference, but my favorite is Lakanto Monk Fruit Granulated. You can also use Swerve Granulated or Pyure but some experience a minty after taste.

Can I make Keto French Toast Bites ahead of time?

Absolutely! You can make the french toast portion ahead of time and easily reheat by covering bites with a damp paper towel and microwaving in 20-second increments until the desired temperature. It is best to assemble the bites right before eating.

Can I freeze Keto French Toast Bites?

Keto Banana Muffins with Walnuts

By 1 Comment

Keto Banana Muffins with Walnuts are what low carb breakfast dreams are made of! Soft and sweet and so full of flavor - but not carbs - you will never believe these are sugar-free! These keto muffins stay moist and are easily reheated in the microwave or toaster oven for breakfast on the go. Made with simple ingredients, these healthy banana muffins are ready in less than 30 minutes and will be loved by everyone.

plate of keto banana muffins
[feast_advanced_jump_to]

I am not sure there is anything better than coffee and a hot banana nut muffin for breakfast - but a typical banana muffin can have nearly 30 grams of sugar in one little muffin!

I tried a couple of recipes for low-carb banana muffins, but oftentimes they would be so dry, no amount of melted butter could save them. I started experimenting with ingredients and what I learned from making keto blueberry muffins and after several failed attempts I finally came up with the perfect keto banana muffins with walnuts... and we have enjoyed them nearly every day since!

If you are looking for the best-premade keto banana muffins, these Smart Bakery Muffins from Amazon are absolutely delicious. I keep them in the freezer and microwave for just 30 seconds for the perfect healthy muffin.

You can also use this exact recipe to make a loaf of keto banana bread! Whether you bake a loaf or muffins, these easy almond flour banana muffins will keep you on track with your goals while keeping you full and satisfied all morning long.

Ingredients

First, make sure you have all of your ingredients together. With this recipe, specific brands do not seem to matter like they do in other keto recipes. Scroll to the recipe card for exact measurements.

This recipe uses banana extract instead of real bananas to keep the carb count low. Banana extract gives these low carb banana muffins a great banana flavoring without the carbs from actual bananas.

  • blanched almond flour
  • baking powder
  • pink salt
  • granulated monk fruit sweetener
  • eggs
  • sour cream
  • vanilla extract
  • banana extract
  • fresh walnuts

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400* and place liners in a muffin tin.

In a large mixing bowl, mix together all dry ingredients - almond flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated monk fruit.

Mix in wet ingredients - eggs, sour cream, vanilla extract, and banana extract until well combined.

Fold in chopped walnuts, saving some to sprinkle on top.

walnuts falling into muffin batter

Using a large spoon or cookie scoop, divide batter into muffin liners and fill muffin cups about half full. Keto banana muffins will rise slightly.

Sprinkle walnuts on top.

Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Let cool and enjoy!

Equipment

Let me also say if you have not begun using silicon muffin liners, these little things are a game-changer. While you are supposed to eat plenty of fat while on the keto diet, I do not want to use macros to make sure my muffins do not stick!

I grabbed this set of silicon liners off Amazon and have used them dozens of times with no problem! I just rinse them in warm soapy water after each use and they are ready to go next time I bake!

I have also used this super cute silicon muffin pan - but make sure to set it on top of a cookie sheet for stability.

Tips & FAQs

How do you store keto banana muffins?

Store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to five days. Since there are no preservatives, muffins will go bad quickly.

Can you freeze keto banana nut muffins?

Absolutely! To reheat simply wrap the muffin in a damp paper towel and heat for 20 seconds. Let sit additional 20 seconds before eating.

What sweeteners can I use for Keto Banana Muffins?

My favorite keto sweetener is Lakanto Granulated Monk Fruit - it has a good sweet taste without the cooling sensation of many keto sweeteners. You can also use granulated Stevia or Granulated Swerve.

Nutrition and Macros

As with all keto recipes you want to measure and calculate your own ingredients. According to Nutritionix, when I put in my exact ingredients it came up with the following macros. Each Keto Banana Muffin with Walnuts has 156 calories, 13 grams of fat, 6 grams of total carbs, 2 grams of net carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber, and 5 grams of protein.

Keto Meal Prep Tips

By 5 Comments

Whether you are just getting started with the Keto Lifestyle or have been a Ketonian for a while, these keto meal prep tips will help you save time and money while achieving your low carb goals!

Tip 1 - Boil ALL The Eggs

Boiled eggs are a simple, cheap, easy snack or ingredient that is a staple for any keto household. They are also the most versatile. Boiled eggs are great to grab and go, make egg salad, Bacon, Egg & Cheese Sliders make a great snack or party appetizer, or you can even make chocolate pudding with boiled eggs. Yes, seriously.

You can simply boil eggs in water or my Deluxe Egg Cooker is one of my most favorite kitchen gadgets ever. You can even make hard-boiled eggs in a pressure cooker.

Tip 2 - Less Is More

On this blog, I have a ton of Keto Recipes - some of which are... extensive. When it comes to meal prep - less is more... meaning the fewer ingredients, the better.

My Two Ingredient Cheese Crisps are a super simple snack that will keep you full and these Keto Sausage Balls take just four ingredients for total perfection. Meals like Hasselback Pizza Chicken take only five ingredients and save and reheat easily.

Tip 3 - Mind Your Macros

One of the biggest secrets to success with the Keto Lifestyle is keeping it simple with delicious, satisfying meals to keep you on track. Whether you are meal prepping for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, or all four - Mind Your Macros.

Begin by choosing your protein. Add 2-3 cruciferous vegetables. Then add fat. You can do this for every single meal - including snacks - and always feel satiated.

You can also bulk prep your veggies to make this even easier. A sheet pan of Low Carb Veggies with chicken thighs topped with olive oil is a near-perfect macro meal. Voila.

Tip 4 - Make Double

One of the great things about savory keto meals is how easy they are to freeze for later. In fact, some of them even taste better when they are reheated.

You can save time and money by making double portions of your favorite recipes. For instance, it would only be a few dollars more to make two of my Low Carb Mexican Chicken Casserole.

Tip 5 - Size Matters

CONTAINER size that is. While the keto lifestyle does let you indulge in some foods formerly thought to be "off limits" calories do count - so make sure you are using containers that are the right size to keep you satisfied but whole keeping calories in mind.

I personally prefer glass containers as they easily go from the refrigerator to the microwave or even the oven for reheating. This set of glass meal prep containers have silicone sleeves for added glass protection while these are divided for those who prefer their food not to touch.

Keto Valentines Treats

By 1 Comment

These Keto Valentine's Treats take just three ingredients and 30 minutes for sweet, fruity perfection. These treats make it easy to have a Keto Valentine's Day and stay on track with your goals!

When I discovered HighKey Keto Cereal (also available on Amazon) it was a game-changer for my Keto Lifestyle. While I do not eat breakfast as much these days with intermittent fasting, my love for Rice Krispies Treats will never waver.

I found Sugar Free Marshmallows on Amazon... and voila! The perfect Keto Valentines Treat!

I used these sugar-free marshmallows that I found on Amazon. They melt easily into the butter and tasted amazing. They also melt fast - so once you pour them in, make sure to avoid scorching by stirring constantly until smooth.

These marshmallows, as well as the HighKey cereal, are also Gluten-Free, making this a gluten-free recipe as well as sugar-free! Can't beat that!

MACROS

Because the ingredients for these Keto Valentine's Treats are all sugar-free, the net carbs are considerably low - really less than one net carb each. The ingredients are sweetened with erythritol, xylitol, and monk fruit which are said to have little to no insulin response.

Nutrition calculations are based on exact ingredients used and may vary between brands. For exact macro measurements, always calculate your own macros using the exact ingredients that you use.

How To Make Keto Valentine Treats

TIPS & FAQs

What sweetener is in these Keto Valentines Treats?

High Key Cereal uses erythritol and allulose to sweeten their cereal. The Sugar-Free marshmallows are made with xylitol and monk fruit.

Can you use margarine instead of butter?

Margarine tends to separate when heated and will not be as smooth as using real butter. You can, however us coconut oil.

Did you notice effects from the caffeine in the marshmallows?

Not at all, I was surprised to see that. It is listed as the last ingredient, and according to the seller, there is approximately 20mg of caffeine in 2 mallows.

Reebok Zig Dynamica - Continuing A Family Tradition

By Leave a Comment

This post was sponsored by Reebok as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

I remember when I was a little girl, my mom wore bright white high top Reeboks almost daily. She loved them so much because they were always comfortable for whatever she was doing - grocery shopping, hanging with friends, or even teaching fitness classes.

It almost felt like a rite of passage when I got my very own pair of bright white Reebok high tops at Christmas one year. Once I got them on I totally understood why my mother loved them so much, and I have been a Reebok girl ever since.

Recently I got to share that love with my own daughter, with the new Reebok Zig Dynamica sneakers from Shoe Carnival. Just as I did when I was her age, she immediately became our third generation Reebok fan… and has worn them every day since.

Reebok has long been known for comfort, value, and style, and the new Rebook Zig Dynamica are no exception.  With a re-engineered midsole based on Reebok’s iconic ZigTech - which premiered in the original Zig 10 years ago - these shoes keep her going all day long - from having to quickly change classes, to rehearsing dance chorus, and even when she accompanies me to the gym.

She loves that they are bright white with just a touch of color so she can wear them with virtually anything. I love that they are comfortable on her feet all day, but it also makes me smile to see all three of us sporting our Reeboks.

The Reebok Zig Dynamica are technically a running shoe - because they give all of the support your feet need for even long runs - but they are great for everything - even if the only “running” you do is running errands around town.

If you are looking for a great pair of shoes to gift to your loved ones this holiday season, be sure to check out Reebok Zig Dynamica available at your local Shoe Carnival. And be sure to grab yourself a pair too.

Lucy Chew and Park Nicotine Gum - For All Of The Times You Can Not Smoke

With more and more businesses banning the use of cigarettes and vaping products, it is getting harder for smokers to enjoy time with their family or friends in social settings. Lucy Chew & Park Nicotine Gum can help you enjoy nicotine in situations where you can not smoke, so you can focus on spending time with your loved ones.

About Nicotine

It is a little known fact that while nicotine is one of the most addictive substances in cigarettes, it is actually not what is the most dangerous. Nicotine is a naturally produced chemical stimulant found in the nightshade family of plants - most notably tobacco.

Unfortunately, numerous dangerous chemicals and additives are contained in tobacco for cigarettes and chewing tobacco that increase the health risks of using these products. And while nicotine is highly addictive, even the Surgeon General of the United States has indicated that nicotine does not cause cancer. (https://stacks.cdc.gov/view/cdc/21569/Share)

While most smokers admit they want to stop, that is easier said than done, and as a former smoker myself I can tell you that stopping is no easy feat. Withdrawals from smoking can cause moodiness, irritability, stress, and even trouble sleeping.

For some, those symptoms can begin within just a few hours, which can make social gatherings where smoking is not allowed almost unbearable for both the smoker and the people around them.

Several years ago I attended a wedding where the bride was a smoker - however many of her family members were unaware. Out of respect for her elderly grandparents she did not want them to find out, but after several hours of the wedding festivities, you could tell she was starting to get incredibly irritable - which is NOT how a bride wants to feel on her wedding day.

Even to this day she jokes about that being one of the “longest afternoons of her life.” I can’t help but think that a product like Lucy Chew and Park Gum would have helped her to enjoy more of her day without the memories and the stress.

How to use Lucy Chew and Park Nicotine Gum

With Lucy Chew and Park, you simply chew for a moment or two in order to let the nicotine begin to release, and then “park” it between your cheek and gum. Every few minutes you can chew a few more moments and then “park” it again. Each time you chew you release a bit more nicotine to be absorbed.

Lucy Chew and Park is a discreet way to get your nicotine when you can not light up a cigarette or chew tobacco, making it great for long family gatherings, weddings, movies, meetings and more.

Lucy Chew and Park comes in three flavor varieties - Cinnamon, Wintergreen, and Pomegranate - all of which are vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free, and aspartame-free. Each piece of gum has 4mg of pure nicotine and each sleeve has 10 pieces of gum.

Lucy is available at select retailers nationwide or buy online and use the code MOSCATO to save 20% on your entire order.

Lucy Chew and Park is perfect for all of those times you want to smoke… but can’t. With Lucy you do not have to dread long events where smoking is not allowed. You can just “chew and park” and spend more time enjoying time with the people you love.

Warning: This Product Contains Nicotine. Nicotine is an Addictive Chemical.

Keto Pumpkin Muffins with Cream Cheese Frosting

These Keto Pumpkin Muffins with Cream Cheese Frosting are everything you love about Fall in every delicious bite. Super simple to make - these will be a crowd favorite for sure!

These Keto Pumpkin Muffins are dense, heavy muffins with tons of flavor. They are super filling while still having great macros, so they make the perfect keto breakfast that will keep you fuller, longer.

I have been pairing one low carb pumpkin muffin with a bulletproof coffee to really kickstart my morning on the right foot.

womans hand piping frosting on a low carb pumpkin muffin

I think the secret ingredient for these muffins is the almond extract. I feel like it is an undervalued flavor! The almond extract with the almond flour gives the perfect flavor for this Fall treat.

Also I used Lakanto Granulated Monkfruit for both the muffins and the frosting and it turned out perfectly. Unlike some other keto sweeteners, I find that monkfruit does not have the cooling sensation, so it is my preferred baking sweetener.

You can order the exact monkfruit sweetener I used by visiting this link and use the code LYNSEY to save 10% on your order.

High Key Cereal - Easy Keto Breakfast

By 4 Comments

HighKey Cereal is the easiest Keto Breakfast there is. With five flavors to choose from, the new Protein Cereal is gluten free, grain free, and zero net carbs!

I have tried a couple "granola" style keto cereals, but never found one I truly liked. After seeing HighKey Cereal on Instagram I knew I had to give it a try. I am hooked! I got the Cereal Variety Pack and have loved every bite.

The HighKey Keto Cereal comes in five different flavors - all of which taste just like their sugar-filled counterparts. My favorite is the "Fruity" which tastes just like Fruity Pebbles!

My second favorite is the Cinnamon which tastes just like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. All of the keto cereal flavors stay crunchy in milk far longer than typical cereal too!

I have not had true cereal in so long, this was an absolute treat! I used unsweetened almond milk and felt like I was cheating as I enjoyed a big bowl of cereal!

HighKey is owned by foodies - not scientists - who focus on taste. They want you to "treat every day like a cheat day" and enjoy sweet treats while still staying on track with your goals.

HighKey offers a variety of Keto Friendly Foods. From Keto Cereal to cookies and even a variety of baking mixes - all low carb and keto friendly!

I have ordered some sugar free marshmallows to make some Keto Treats - but honestly just enjoying cereal again in the morning has been delightful! I've even grabbed a handful after dinner to eat as a crunchy sweet treat.

Check out the HighKey site to order - and use the promo code LYNSEY to save 10%! Or "Build Your Bundle" to try even more and save 15% with free shipping on all orders over $50!

Happi Foodi Keto Microwave Meals

By Leave a Comment

This post about keto microwave meals is in partnership with Happi Foodi through Blog Meets Brand. All images and opinions are my own.

Happi Foodi makes staying on track with your goals simple with delicious keto friendly microwavable meals that are ready in minutes! There are six different meals to choose from - even one for breakfast!

I have been living a ketogenic lifestyle for nearly five years now - and if there is one bit of advice I would give anyone, it is to always be prepared with keto friendly foods. It is easy to stay on plan when you have delicious meals at your fingertips.

That is why I was so excited to discover Happi Foodi Keto Bowls. These delicious little bowls heat up in your microwave in less than 6 minutes and give you the perfect portion with near perfect macros. You can not beat that.

I tried all six of the Keto Bowls from Happi Foodi and honestly... it is hard to pick a favorite. Each one has a unique taste - and they are FULL of flavor.

If I had to narrow it down I would say that the Cheddar Parm Chicken Bowl and the Chicken Alfredo Bowl are going to be staples in my freezer.

One of the things that most impressed me beyond the flavor (and the price!) is that the Happi Foodi Keto Bowls are full of vegetables that you can tell were super fresh when they were frozen.

Even heated up, the veggies were still perfectly crunchy and tasted fresh picked, while the super lean cuts of chicken were tender and juicy.

The Southwestern Style Chicken Bowl was my husband's favorite, and he was surprised when I told him it was out of the freezer and not the local restaurant we have close to the house.

Depending on which Keto Bowl you choose they have between 4 and 14 net carbs and between 19 and 27 grams of protein! These are the perfect keto lunch that you can easily take to work or heat up in between zoom meetings at home like I do.

There is no excuse for going off plan and grabbing something through a drive through when you can have a chef inspired meal that is on plan in just six minutes. Happi Foodi makes it easy - and delicious - to stay on track with your keto goals.

You can find Happi Foodi at your local Walmart store and select Meijer, Winn-Dixie and Safeway-Albertson’s stores. Save on Happi Foodi keto bowls with this Buy One, Get One digital coupon. Download today: CLICK HERE.

You can find the store closest to you by using their Store Finder. I was stoked to find all six at my local Walmart Market! I added them to my favorites so I can easily add them to my pickup order each week!

I am super excited to find these delicious and affordable keto friendly microwavable meals that will help keep me on track even on my busiest days.

Keto Pumpkin Spice Latte

Nothing says Fall like a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, but with over 50 grams of sugar in just one, it certainly isn't keto friendly. Check out how I make a Keto Pumpkin Spice Latte that I can enjoy and not feel guilty about!

keto pumpkin spice latte creamer with fall decorations

I will admit, before I discovered the keto lifestyle, I was one of those who would not so patiently wait for Starbucks to release the Pumpkin Spice Latte every year. The first sip would remind me that even though it was still eleventy million degrees in Florida, that Fall was just around the corner.

Since discovering keto however - and then finding out that the Starbucks version has more than 50 grams of sugar - I said goodbye to my beloved Fall favorite. That is, until now.

MACROS

This Keto Pumpkin Spice Latte has 1 net carb, 4 total carbs, 19 g fat and 175 calories - making it a near perfect macro ratio to start your day off on the right foot.

Omega PowerCreamers are made with grass-fed ghee, coconut oil and MCT oil and is lactose free, casein free, soy free, gluten free, and carb free!

The Pumpkin Spice Omega Creamer brings the taste of pumpkin, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice - just like the beloved Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte!

One of my must-have tools for keto is a handheld frother, and this one has been my ride-or-die for over three years now. I use it to make everything from my Keto Bulletproof Coffee to my nighttime fatty tea.

With just four ingredients you can make a Keto Pumpkin Spice Latte at home in seconds and enjoy it guilt free!

It is PUMPKIN SPICE SEASON! Well, almost.. but with the way 2020 is going I am already ready to put up my Christmas tree and start singing carols by a fire.

I have loved my Keto French Toast Egg Loaf so much over the last few weeks, I knew I needed to make a Pumpkin Spice Egg Loaf to enjoy for the holidays.

This Pumpkin Spice Egg Loaf is everything you love about Fall with pumpkin and nutmeg and cinnamon. It is purposefully not too sweet, so that you can cover it in your favorite sugar-free syrup.

The Pumpkin Spice Egg Loaf does have a bit more carbs than the French Toast Egg Loaf, but they are still almost perfect macros to start your day off on the right foot.

One thing to make absolute sure of is that you get 100% pure pumpkin - not a pumpkin pie pumpkin which is loaded with sugar.

You can also puree your own pumpkin - simply roast fresh pumpkin slices until soft and then put in your favorite blender or food processor. Easy peasy.

Keto Blueberry Muffins Recipe

By 3 Comments

This Keto Blueberry Muffins Recipe will be your new go-to low carb breakfast. So delicious you will never believe they are low carb.

keto blueberry muffins in rainbow liners

One thing I have missed since starting the keto lifestyle is muffins... especially blueberry muffins. There is just no better way to start the weekend than with hot buttery blueberry muffins!

I set out to make keto blueberry muffins that would cure my craving without blowing my macros, and I am so so excited to share that I have found it!

close up of low carb blueberry muffin in pink liner

I have made this recipe a couple of times now and finally found the perfect ratio of everything. I never knew almond flour blueberry muffins could be so tasty!

These keto muffins also stay good all week long, so I just keep them in the fridge and warm up for a perfect low carb breakfast any day of the week. Just wrap in a damp paper towel and heat for 30 seconds! Voila!

two almond flour blueberry muffins with a bowl of fresh blueberries in the background

I have used both frozen blueberries and fresh blueberries and they both turn out just fine. The frozen blueberries do seem to "sink" into the batter a bit more.

You can also use almond extract or vanilla extract. I personally prefer the almond extract with Lakanto brown monk fruit. So delicious!

I also recommend using silicone baking cups like these that I found on amazon. The keto blueberry muffins pop right out and do not stick to the sides at all.

Slathered down with butter these keto blueberry muffins are a family favorite and the perfect way to start the day.

MACROS

I plugged this recipe into my favorite Keto Calculator App - Carb Manager - and it came up with the following macros:

  1. In a large bowl mix together dry ingredients until well combined.
  2. Mix in butter, almond milk, eggs, and almond extract.
  3. Gently fold in blueberries.
  4. Line a muffin tin with silicone liners and evenly distribute the batter between 12 cups.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until tops begin to brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Serve warm.

Notes

Muffins stay fresh in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

To reheat, wrap in a damp paper towel and microwave 30 seconds. Let sit an additional 30 seconds before eating.

You can use almond extract or vanilla extract.

Frozen or fresh blueberries work just fine.
