When I decided I was going to run 12 5k races in 2013 and have a quilt made from all of the Tshirts from the events, I knew I wanted to do some really FUN runs. Runs that took me out of my comfort zone and made me stretch myself. Runs that would benefit charities so I could feel even better about my aching body knowing I had done a good thing. Runs that I could get my besties involved in that would leave us busting into a fit of giggles at the memories for the rest of our lives.
We kicked off 2013 with the Jubilee Run With Color on January 19th and had an absolute blast. But February is going to even top that...
What a delightfully dirty day.
Run, walk, climb, crawl—you will experience it all. With obstacle names like H2OMG and PMS (Pretty Muddy Stuff), you can expect to laugh until your cheeks hurt. But don't worry, if you get to an obstacle that's more than a challenge for you—hey, take one of the detours. Also expect safety throughout. Expect the competition to go on rain or shine. Expect not to be timed. Expect some crazy team uniforms. Expect to leave with an overwhelming sense of accomplishment.
On February 16th, Liz, Mary, and I will be taking to Mobile, Alabama to get Dirty with hundreds of other Dirty Girls in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation. I am not sure if we will be sporting tu tus on this race, but if Liz has her way we will be.
"An untimed obstacle course that welcomes women of all ages and athletic abilities, Dirty Girl Mud Run challenges women to break from their routine for a day, get out of their comfort zones, get dirty, and accomplish something brand new – all while having a blast. Every one of the obstacles—from the “Utopian Tubes” tunnel crawl to the “PMS (Pretty Muddy Stuff)” mud pit—is optional, so participants can skip anything they find too difficult. Forming teams is encouraged, and so are crazy team uniforms. A Dirty Girl Mud Run comes with excitement, laughter, and camaraderie—as well as lots of music, food and drinks. From start to finish, it’s an unforgettable event and an incredible teambuilding experience"
