Last weekend my family and I had the privilege to check out the Westin Kids Club at the new Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village. We took the day of Friday to drive down - getting on the road about 7am. It was a great drive - Midge and The Teen were set up with every kind of electronic you can imagine in the back seat, and Mike and I enjoyed getting some uninterrupted time to talk about everything from predicting who is going to win the Superbowl to how many bedrooms we really need in the new house.
The Resort was incredible - everything is top notch. Check in was quick and easy and the layout of the resort made everything very easy to get to. We stayed in a two bedroom suite which was great - over 1300 square feet... we sure didnt feel like we were in a "hotel" - it was beautiful. We all quickly took our places and the relaxing began...
The first night we just relaxed in the room and listened to the sounds of the band coming from the Nauti Mermaid - the bar and grill out on the deck. I do not remember the name of the girl singing - but she was incredible. Everything from Adele to Bryan Adams... and she pulled it off beautifully. I was impressed.
The next morning Midge and I got up and headed to the Westin Kids Club. The Westin Kids Club is an area just for kids ages 4-12 to have fun and play while Mom and Dad relax. The room is filled with all kinds of fun games and activities that kids can do, and is staffed by a specially trained Westin Kids Club Associates. They even have snacks!
You can choose for the kids to go in the morning, afternoon, or all day. They even have a Kids Night Out event every Friday night where parents can drop off their kiddos to enjoy an evening at Marker92 or the Nauti Mermaid - the two awesome restaurants on site. You even get a discount on the Kids Night In fee when you bring back your dinner receipt.
Midge and I spent the morning with Mary - and had a ball. We did everything from play board games to paint sand dollars and finished up the Ultimate Championship of Wii Bowling. I am pretty sure Mary has the patience of a Saint - there were a few times I started to feel my blood pressure rise at Midge, but Mary took it all in stride. You can tell she is really great with kids and enjoys her job.
While Midge and I were hanging out at the Westin Kids Club, Mike and The Teen headed off to explore Cape Coral. There is so much to do in that area - nature trails, geocaching, dolphin/manatee tours, shopping and more. They stopped to play at a local putt putt golf and arcade not far from the resort.
Later that afternoon we had burgers at the Nauti Mermaid... I am not sure how they make their french fries - but they are the best tasting fries in the Universe. We may or may not have dipped them in the queso... hey, calories do not count on vacation, right?
We finished off our stay dining at Marker92 - the restaurant inside the resort. The Teen and I had the shrimp ravioli with creamy pesto, Mike had a sirloin, and Midge had the chicken fingers... with more of those amazing fries from lunch. The shrimp ravioli was absolutely incredible - and we even used those amazing french fries to sop up every drop of the creamy pesto... it was that good. We listened to the band and watched the sun set over the marina, and then headed to the room to watch tv and settle in to leave early the next morning.
The entire trip was short - but perfect. Just a nice little getaway for the four of us.

That looks like a beautiful resort!!! I love resorts that have activities and restaurants on or nearby b/c then you can really immerse yourself in all the resort has to offer.

We will definitely be checking out this resort! We've stayed in Westins before, and they've always been top notch. Now I'll be thinking about those fries all day...Thanks!

That is such a pretty looking resort. I love when resorts have tons of stuff for the kids to do. It makes vacationing with them so much easier.
