It is back to school season and Midge and I could NOT be more excited. As much as we love summer, she and I both enjoy the structure that comes with school time. Even though we have a few weeks left, we are already getting ready by stocking up on all of her favorite snacks and making this cool DIY Cabinet Snack Station.
Right now is the best time to stock up on all of your favorite back to school snacks at your local Publix. You can save up to $15 with Back-to-School digital coupon savings on brands you love, like Big G cereals – Honey Nut Cheerios™, Cinnamon Toast Crunch™ and Lucky Charms™, Cascadian Farm® Organic Cereal & Snacks, Nature Valley™ Snacks and Yoplait GoGurt® Yogurt!
Simply visit ReadyPlanSave.com to sign up for a Publix account and clip the coupons for your favorite General Mills products. Begin by putting in your Publix Digital Coupon Member ID – which is your phone number – and then clipping your favorites. Voila! You are ready to save!
They will save right inside your app and will be ready when you check out! How simple is that!? You do not even need to print anything! It’s simple: just Browse, Clip and Save! Clip digital coupons on your Publix account and be sure to enter your phone number at checkout before 9/15 to save up to $15!
Then all you have to do is fill your cart and check out! Finding savings at Publix is easy – they are everywhere you turn! I am only a little embarrassed to admit JUST how much we “stocked up” but with savings like these – it is hard not to. Your clipped coupons will be sitting in your app ready to use when you are!
I have to admit, I have never gotten into “couponing” because it always seemed like such a hassle – this is super easy and takes almost no time at all! I am so glad Publix has made saving money so easy!
After Midge and I filled out cart at Publix we grabbed two more things we needed to make a DIY Snack Station right inside one of our cabinets. See, she is in middle school now, which means we get home late and I have to immediately start cooking dinner. The problem is she comes in ravenous – so I needed to create a place that is all hers to keep after-school snacks she can grab without getting in the way of my cooking.
DIY Snack Station
All you need to make your own DIY Snack Station is:
- A Hanging Shoe Organizer with clear pockets
- Removable Hooks
- Sharp scissors
- A sharpened pencil
- Your favorite snacks
- Sandwich bags (optional)
Begin by laying out your Shoe Organizer and cutting straight across – just below the first row of pockets. If your cabinets are tall, you may be able to cut below the second row – just measure to make sure.
Next, fill each pocket with your favorite back to school grab and go snacks like Nature Valley Crunchy, Nature Valley Peanut Butter Biscuits, Cascadian Farm Organic Chocolate Chip Chewy Granola Bars, and Honey Nut Cheerios.
Since one of Midge’s favorite snacks is Honeynut Cheerios – and they were on sale – I simply divvied the box up into easy grab-and-go baggies. All of the others are individually packaged – making them before for tossing into lunches or grabbing for an after school snack.
Then take your loaded DIY Snack Station and measure exactly where to hang our hooks using your pencil. Even though the hooks are removable, measuring through the holes of the organizer will better your chances of getting the placement right on the first try.
Hang your hooks exactly where you marked and make sure they are secure. Even though most Shoe Organizers come with hooks – they are built for doors and not cabinets. In order to close your cabinets completely and secure your Snack Station inside, removable hooks are best.
Then hang your Snack Station and voila! You are ready to go! Your child can easily grab a snack – and you can see when snacks are getting low and need to be refilled!
We hung our DIY Snack Station right next to the refrigerator so she can also grab another favorite – Yoplait GoGurt with EZ Open. It does not get much more grab-and-go than that.
With our new DIY Cabinet Snack Station we can both come in after school and she can grab a snack quickly while I begin dinner without running into each other. I can feel good about her getting a healthy snack that will not ruin her dinner, and I can easily see when I need to restock simply by opening the cabinet. It is the perfect solution for our after-school snack woes.
Be sure to visit your local Publix to stock up on all of these favorites, and save even more when you “Ready. Plan. Save.”
