Today I was ever-so-gently reminded by a certain family member that I did not post the “First Day of School” pictures last week. After the Fashion Show I thought I was in the clear, but alas…
The night before the three of us girls sat up painting our fingernails and toenails – it was a blast! The Toddler (which I am told I have to stop calling her now that she is in school!) had so much fun “being a bird” flapping her little hands for her nails to dry. I will let you imagine what she attempted with her toenails.
The morning of the first day of school went well – The Toddler of course whined about how EARLY it was… she and Mike are the sleepers in the family. The Tween and I always get up at the crack of dawn.
We took The Toddler in first of course… and yes I walked her in. Actually Mike did, I walked behind them doing my best not to cry. It was the first day of Kindergarten after all. She showed him right where her class was, and skipped in without even looking back. I managed to hold back tears until we turned away, and then I only welled up – no tears actually fell. The Tween gave me a big hug and said “It's ok, Mom, we will always be your babies” and THAT made it the perfect morning ever.
I took the Tween to school and she waved as she walked in. I realized then how truly lucky I am to have two such amazing daughters.
