Whether you are just getting started with the Keto Lifestyle or have been a Ketonian for a while, these keto meal prep tips will help you save time and money while achieving your low carb goals!
Tip 1 - Boil ALL The Eggs
Boiled eggs are a simple, cheap, easy snack or ingredient that is a staple for any keto household. They are also the most versatile. Boiled eggs are great to grab and go, make egg salad, Bacon, Egg & Cheese Sliders make a great snack or party appetizer, or you can even make chocolate pudding with boiled eggs. Yes, seriously.
You can simply boil eggs in water or my Deluxe Egg Cooker is one of my most favorite kitchen gadgets ever. You can even make hard-boiled eggs in a pressure cooker.
Tip 2 - Less Is More
On this blog, I have a ton of Keto Recipes - some of which are... extensive. When it comes to meal prep - less is more... meaning the fewer ingredients, the better.
My Two Ingredient Cheese Crisps are a super simple snack that will keep you full and these Keto Sausage Balls take just four ingredients for total perfection. Meals like Hasselback Pizza Chicken take only five ingredients and save and reheat easily.
Tip 3 - Mind Your Macros
One of the biggest secrets to success with the Keto Lifestyle is keeping it simple with delicious, satisfying meals to keep you on track. Whether you are meal prepping for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, or all four - Mind Your Macros.
Begin by choosing your protein. Add 2-3 cruciferous vegetables. Then add fat. You can do this for every single meal - including snacks - and always feel satiated.
You can also bulk prep your veggies to make this even easier. A sheet pan of Low Carb Veggies with chicken thighs topped with olive oil is a near-perfect macro meal. Voila.
Tip 4 - Make Double
One of the great things about savory keto meals is how easy they are to freeze for later. In fact, some of them even taste better when they are reheated.
You can save time and money by making double portions of your favorite recipes. For instance, it would only be a few dollars more to make two of my Low Carb Mexican Chicken Casserole.
Tip 5 - Size Matters
CONTAINER size that is. While the keto lifestyle does let you indulge in some foods formerly thought to be "off limits" calories do count - so make sure you are using containers that are the right size to keep you satisfied but whole keeping calories in mind.
I personally prefer glass containers as they easily go from the refrigerator to the microwave or even the oven for reheating. This set of glass meal prep containers have silicone sleeves for added glass protection while these are divided for those who prefer their food not to touch.
