A few months ago I did a post on what I think are the best Moscato wines - and to date is has been the highest viewed post of mine so far. And as much as I think that list is still totally relevant, I have had the opportunity to check out a few more brands and now have a few more "favorites" to share with you! Though my #1 favorite is still the same - Bartenura Moscato di Asti - a few others are now making the list of what *I* think are the Best Moscato Wine Brands:
1. Bartenura Moscato
Since the very first sip I took of Bartenura Moscato back in 2008 at Skopelo’s Restaurant I have loved this wine. It is a very light, sweet wine with only 5% alcohol – low for many wines. It is a bit effervescent giving it almost a champagne-like feel… perfect for any little celebration.
Bartenura Moscato pairs best with fruits, desserts, and cheeses – but to be honest, I drink it with just about anything.
When I first discovered this wine I could only find it at Four Winds – a local specialty food and wine store, but I am happy to say that Publix carries it now as well!
2. Cupcake Moscato
This one was highly recommended on my other post, so I was excited when I found it while in Tennessee for Brandcation. We picked up a couple bottles and all were big fans. Cupcake Moscato is also a Moscato di Asti, meaning its comes from the city of Asti, a key wine town in Northwestern Italy.
"Crafted with a passion for celebrating the good and genuine things in life – from food and drink to family and friends – Cupcake Vineyards wines make any occasion delicious."
3. Fish Eye Moscato
I discovered Fish Eye Moscato this year at Mardi Gras when I was searching for a bottle of Moscato that I could take to the parades - meaning not in a glass bottle. Sure, they also have bottles, but I was delighted to find a "Cardboardeaux" - wine in a box!
The Fish Eye Moscato "Cardboardeaux" holds the equivalent of four bottles of wine - perfect for glass-free events like Mardi Gras parades - but I also took a box to the beach during Brandcation and enjoyed sharing with everyone while enjoying the beach... although I wish I had taken two.
4. Yellowtail Moscato
This one I tried based on recommendations as well, and though to me it is a more "flat" wine that the three before, it is still very tasty. Yellowtail Moscato holds up the same quality that Yellowtail is known for. Like the Fish Eye brand, Yellowtail is based in Australia and run by three brothers with sixth generation wine makers... they know their stuff.
"Here at [yellow tail], we believe that great quality wine can be affordable and good fun too. We ensure our wines are vibrant, flavoursome and approachable and that each variety helps to make special moments even more enjoyable. When it comes to wine, we like to make our own rules – the only thing we’re really serious about is the quality."
5. Flip Flop Moscato
Ok, so two from my original list of Best Moscato Wines made it to this list. For so many reasons, Flip Flop Moscato makes my list of faves as well. Flip Flop Moscato is so light and fresh, it pairs with any food or alone while you are sitting by the pool. It is sweet without being overly sweet and at a price point that you dont mind sharing or even giving it away. In fact I am not sure I have arrived at a dinner party without a bottle of Flip Flop since I discovered it over two years ago. It easily converts the "I don't like wine" people every time.
I am still working my way through finding and trying all of the different Moscatos that I can find (I know, I have a tough job, don't I?) and love all of your suggestions, so keep them coming!
You turned me onto the Bartenura. I remember trying it for the first time at your house a few years ago. It still has remained my favorite Moscato. I love trying different Moscato's and I have from all my travels. Thank you again.
ok, i'm taking notes. My favorite Moscato's are Yellow Tail and Barefoot. Those are the main two that I consistently buy.
I drink Barefoot Moscato the most (can't beat the price).
I love the Moscato Italia (I think that's the name) - it is super sweet and a bit bubbly, almost like a champagne!!
I have just Luna d'Or and it was excellent
I love the Cupcake Moscato but now I've got to go try the other ones just to make sure it's really my favorite 🙂 Thanks for the suggestions!

I've had Fish Eye and Yellowtail before and enjoyed them. I want to try the Cupcake just because of the name!

Hmmm! Not a big wine-drinker, but those actually do sound good to me! Guess I need a drink! 😉
The cupcake wine intrigues me because of the name. 🙂
We like the Yellowtale, but want to try some of the others that you listed. Please keep posting things like this because I never know how to pick out wines unless someone tells me if they are good or not. I usually buy based on a combination of price and picture on the bottle. lol.
i love moscato. flip flop was my first time having moscato! i need to try a few more. 🙂 thank you for the tips. the cupcake looks fun

OOh these sound intriguing! I am such a wine noob.... but I've been into experimenting a little! My uncle actually brought over some of the Cupcake Moscato last time he visited.. I was surprised at how good it was! This is a great list, thanks for keeping us wine newbies up to speed 😉

I don't drink wine but IF I did I would think the cupcake one would be a different one to try.
I don't drink wine but am intrigued with the descriptions of each!

The Barefoot Moscato has much more of a citrus-y taste to me than the other wines on this list. You can also taste the hints of peach and apricot, without it being too overly sweet.

My favorite moscato is either Beringer or Sutter Home PINK moscato. Love, love, love them both.

Stella Rosa make a amazing d' Asti moscato you need to try. I had it for the first time at Christmas, and it is pretty great.
Melissa Thornton says
I'm sorry to disagree with you. I've had every single moscato on this list with the exception of the first. My favorite moscato by far is Palladino. Followed by La Spinetta. However, if you like moscato as much as I do, one of the best wines I've had is Bigarò by Elio Perrone.
Moscato Mom says
Where can I find Palladino? I would love to try that. Or Bigaro.

I've had all of these, and I can honestly say Bartenura is rightfully in the top spot. So hard to find in Texas though. Costco is the only chain I've found that carries it.

This list helped me while I was looking for another moscato to try. If ever you wanna try a new moscato, try the Castello del Poggio! Lord Jesus this is good. I discovered it in Olive Garden (lol) as they carry the brand plus you could ask for a sample before ordering the glass. This one was tricky for me to find outside of the restaurant (I only found their d'asti version but I really wanted the exact one). I DID FIND IT THOUGH ☺️ Hope you get to try it one day and tell me how you like it! If you do like the wine and you're dining at Olive Garden, definitely try their Moscato Berry Splash cocktail because they use the same wine and it is totally delish
Two of my favorite Moscatos are Little Black Dress and Luccio d'Asti. They both are so smooth, sweet and yummy! A must try. They go great with shrimp, chicken, cheese and desserts. Also they are great for just sipping while enjoying a beautiful evening on the deck with your honey.
So I feel we could be on two different pages here....would you compair your #1 pick the Bartenura Moscato (tast wise) closer to the Cupcake d'asti or more like the Yellow Tail. Curiouse because the Cupcake is definatly (currently) my #1 but i do not hold the same feelngs for the yellow tail, fish eye or bare foot. so you can see how imay be torn on trying your #1....please help
Moscato Mom says
I would say closer to the cupcake. The Bartenura is more "crisp" to me - I don't know how to explain it. It is interesting how different they all are. I honestly haven't had anything come even remotely close to how much I like the Bartenura though. 🙂

Two really good Moscatos are missing from your list: .
1. Sutter Homes Pink Moscato (the best)
and 2. Berringer (Pink or regular)
