One of the things I love most about Mike is his love for our pets. I have always thought of my pets as family, but to have a partner that feels the same way is really great. To us, having a sick pet is just as bad as having a sick kid – we are all family. In the five years we have been together, our hearts have been broken several times over the loss of pets due to illness and old age. With our beloved Indi being an “only dog” now, and knowing that she is getting up there in age, there is never any question that she will get the best care, at the best veterinarian, at any cost.
Recently I discovered that I can get Indi’s medications at the same pharmacy where I get all of our prescription medicines – #WalgreensRX. Doctors and veterinarians commonly prescribe the same medications for people and animals so Walgreens pharmacists can actually fill human-analogous pet prescriptions at over 8,000 locations nationwide. Not only is it in some cases cheaper than getting it from the vet, but with Walgreens Balance Rewards I can earn points towards other stuff I need and use from Walgreens – like household goods, cosmetics, and OTC medicines. Plus because I have the Walgreens App I can get reminders on when to give her meds, speak to a pharmacist 24/7, and get her refills just by scanning her prescription bottle – the same way I do for us. I can even get email or text refill reminders for when her refills are coming due.

Refill your pets prescriptions right at Walgreens! #WalgreensRX
Select Walgreens pharmacies now offer nearly 200 pet medications. Pick up your pet’s prescriptions alongside your own for a convenient way to keep the whole family happy and healthy. For every pet prescription filled Sep. 2-Oct. 14, Walgreens will donate $5 toward a vaccination* for up to 2000 local pets in need through Best Friends Animal Society. Recently we took Indi to the vet and got a clean bill of health – however she is getting up there in age. And because she is getting a bit chunky in her old age – hey, it happens to the best of us – and chihuahuas are sometimes prone to illnesses such as heart disease, bladder stones, and bone and joint disease, we know she has to have regular checkups to stay healthy. I also know when the time comes for her to be on daily pet medications, I can pick them up easily at Walgreens without having to drive to the vet all the time. My little Maltese Misty was epileptic and required daily anti-seizure medication. I remember vividly having to rush across town to get more meds after the bottle somehow spilled. It was a frantic drive to say the least. I love the peace of mind that I have knowing that should I ever be in a similar situation, Walgreens has us covered.
Getting your pet registered with Walgreens is simple – you simply sign up your furbaby the same way you would your human babies – right in your Family Account. Then just enter the prescription number and voila – you are all set. Walgreens takes extra security measures to make sure you are who you say you are – it did take me about 24 hours to get registered and verified – but once that was done, Indi was easily registered and now shows up right with the rest of the family.
One thing I thought was really awesome about the Walgreens Website is that they have an online chat feature so if you get stuck or confused or have trouble finding something (which was the case with me) they have someone you can chat with immediately to help you out. I can see this being especially handy to people who are not very tech savvy.
While I was setting Indi up, I went ahead and added the other furbabies in the house – Sumo, Stella, and Athena – our mountain lion sized cats. Remember these baby kittens? Yeah, they are now each between 16 and 18 pounds and spoiled rotten. (As they should be.)
It is great that I can now get the entire family’s medicines – all eight of us – all in one place. I highly suggest getting set up with Walgreens Pharmacy for yourself and your family… including your furbabies. It will save you time and money – keeping everything all in one place.
How many furbabies do you have at home?
