Ever since “pay at the pump” became a thing, I admit I have seldom walked inside of gas station convenience stores unless I was traveling and needed to use the restroom. In fact, I think it is pretty common for people to get gasoline and leave – never really thinking about what they might be missing inside. Recently I was asked to check out the new Tom Thumb Bonus Points Program which lets you earn points on things you buy inside to help you save money at the pump!
Angie and I headed off to our local Tom Thumb before class and had fun exploring everything available inside the store. I have to say – I was impressed by the vast array of products available. Gone are the days of just “candy bars and soft drinks” (which none of us eat) – there was everything from fresh fruits and deli sandwiches to phone chargers to dozens of restaurant and store gift cards! They even have WINE! Several times we said “omg check this out – I had no idea they had this stuff in here!!”
I spent several minutes just perusing the gift card kiosk! There was all kinds of stuff on there – places we shop all the time – like restaurants, home improvement stores – even pet supply stores! You can buy the gift cards at Tom Thumb on your way to those stores and it is like a double bonus! You’re going to spend the money at those places anyway – why not get points and save on gasoline in the process right!?
Tom Thumb’s new Bonus Points Program gives you points for all of the cool stuff inside to help you save money on the outside – you know – gasoline! Even though the gas prices are finally reasonable (remember how crazy they were a few years ago!? Man!) who doesn’t love to still save at the pump?! Different bonus point values are assigned to different products – and all you have to do is use your Tom Thumb C-store card at checkout to start racking up the points. For every 100 points you earn, you’ll receive 10 cents off per gallon of gas – up to $1 off PER GALLON! The more you shop, the more you’ll save.
On this trip I grabbed an iTunes giftcard, a pack of gum, and a pretzel sandwich for Midge and racked up over 100 points – which means in just one trip I got enough to save $.10 on my next fill up! Boom! So easy – and stuff I would normally buy at other stores I can now get points on just for buying from Tom Thumb!
