Taylor (aka “The Toddler” who is about to turn six so I am told I can't call her that anymore *tear*) has been begging me for months to get her ears pierced. I have put it off – partly because I have forgotten and partly because I am struggling with my “last baby” being so big! But she finally cornered me and I caved. She told me she wasn't big, she was just “medium” and that she would stay medium if I let her get her ears pierced.
Sounded like a good deal to me.
So after school we headed to Cordova Mall to Claire's where the manager and a cute little girl (I am allowed to call her a little girl – I think I am old enough to have given birth to her) named Aimee helped us to pick out earrings (purple of course) and explain everything to Taylor to put her at ease… although Tay was so excited I dont think she cared. She was just ready to get it done.
She has been terrific about letting me put the solution on them 3 times a day, and “spins” them every once in a while. I have to admit I was worried she wasnt going to let me touch them as she is the kids who will let a splinter “work its way out” for fear that taking it out will hurt, but she has done well with this.
Her sister had hers done at 5 as well, and I think it is a great age to have it done. THEY both made the choice – not me – and both did very well while they were healing.
Anyone want to take dibs on how long it will be till the Tween is begging for a second hole?
