CAUTION: Extreme Cuteness Ahead.
This week has reminded me of what it is like to have a newborn baby at home.... except I have three. Remember this post where I told you I was bringing home my new little bundle of fur? Well, last Thursday I went and picked her up.... along with her two siblings. Truth is they are way too young to be without each other, so they are kind of a package deal for another couple of weeks. Since I knew Trisha was going to have her hands full with the new puppy and all, I volunteered to bring home the pile of kitten to take care of them and get them ready to go to their forever homes.
In high school I interned at a Vet's office so I was not completely clueless on the handling and care of itty bitty kitties... but let's face it, it has been a minute since I was in high school. *cough*
So the last 8 days has been a total whirlwind of feeding kittens, work, a birthday Pasta Party, feeding and then bathing kittens, lunches with girlfriends, litter training kittens, coaching calls, explaining to my Dad I have not become a cutter - that the kittens are really shredding my hands and arms, feeding kittens some more, and webinars. If you notice - ME eating and/or sleeping has been omitted from the "to do" list this week... and that is no accident.
I will not say that I bit off more than I can chew, because honestly I have loved every minute of it... but I will admit that I am exhausted. Though the furbabies are sleeping through the night now - kinda - I am absolutely looking forward to when they will be eating kitten food that does not have to be delivered via a bottle. I am also happy to say they are 100% litter trained, which was almost as exciting as potty training my girls.
So without further adieu, here are my furbabies - Stella, Athena, and Sumo.
I am amazed at how much they have grown this week. From barely walking with their little ears still down to attacking my ankles as I sit down in my office chair. All three have extremely different personalities too and I have enjoyed getting to know each one. Athena is the most playful, risk taker and great little eater. Stella (which is mine) is the screamer and absolutely must be the center of attention, and Sumo is about as chill of a cat as you can ever find. He wants to snuggle and while his sisters play or nap in the kitty condo, he will lay right beneath my desk next to my feet all day long.
I am happy to say that I have found great homes for Athena and Sumo as soon as they are ready and though I will be sad to see them go, I am really happy with where they are going, so it makes it ok. It is certainly different spending 4 hours in the afternoons at a Vet's office taking care of newborn kittens to bringing them home and being the sole caregiver around the clock - but it has been a fantastic experience.
So that is where I have been, and where I will probably be another week or so. The good news is they are at the age where I can get tons of great pictures, so I may be flooding the blog with Itteh Bitteh Kitteh Comitteh pics - but I promise you will love them!
Besides, I need to let my hands heal anyways...
