Valentine’s Day is my absolute favorite holiday of the year. It may sound silly, but a day that simply celebrates love sounds like the perfect holiday to me! I have always loved Valentine’s Day – even when I was single – and go over and above on celebrating this great holiday the way some do for Christmas! This year I am getting started early to make this our best Valentine’s Day ever.

Even though this is technically our ninth Valentine’s Day together – it is our first as a married couple. Mike and I finally wed in the most perfect ceremony ever last October surrounded by our closest family and friends. Even though we have been together a long time, officially becoming husband and wife was absolutely one of the best days of my life.
Even though we said that “nothing would change” when we got married after having been together so long – the truth is everything changed, and we have been living in what feels like a constant honeymoon ever since. Since this is our first Valentine’s Day together as husband and wife I want to continue this “honeymoon” all year long. I wanted to come up with a gift for him that would show him that I want to celebrate our love every day – not just on Valentine’s Day. I headed up to Walmart for inspiration.
Walmart has an impressive line of Valentine’s Day products for every couple – whether you have been “together forever” or just getting started. They offer the newest selection of Hallmark Signature Cards for every occasion – but especially Valentine’s Day! I could spend hours just reading through them all! I loved getting to shop in the “Husband” section this year and found the perfect card to tell him how I feel.
While I was perusing Valentine’s Day Cards I also saw the new Hallmark Vinyl Cards which include an actual vinyl record with a song on each side for your significant other. I was so excited when I saw that one of them includes the song that I walked down the aisle to at our wedding as one of the tracks! Talk about perfect!
Once I finished picking out the perfect cards I wanted to find the perfect gift. Since neither Mike nor I eat a lot of sugar, the typical Valentine’s chocolates wouldn’t work. Plus I wanted something that would last beyond just this day of the holiday. When Mike and I first met we had a weekly “date night” every Thursday night, and while we try to stay pretty true to that, life sometimes gets in the way and we miss our weekly dates. I wanted to give a gift that would inspire us both to rekindle that habit in a fun way.

Start by printing out this Free Printable – 52 Date Night Ideas. Then carefully cut out each date idea making 52 little strips.
Next, curl each one around a pencil tightly and hold between your fingers for a few minutes to set the curl. You can also use a hairdryer on low to warm up the paper to set the curl even tighter.
Continue until you have curled all 52 ideas. Lastly mix them all together and put them in your jar. Then, each week take turns choosing a slip of paper to see what exciting date you will have that night!
I am super excited about celebrating our first Valentine’s Day together as a married couple with cards and gifts that are so perfectly us. I know that we will both cherish having the Vinyl record of our wedding song to enjoy for years to come, and look forward to a years worth of romantic dates.
