Date Night Ideas Jar to Celebrate Love All Year Long

By Leave a Comment

This Date Night Ideas Jar is the perfect Valentine's Day Gift for your sweetie. Download this free printable with 52 weekly date ideas.

Valentine’s Day is my absolute favorite holiday of the year. It may sound silly, but a day that simply celebrates love sounds like the perfect holiday to me!

I have always loved Valentine’s Day - even when I was single - and go over and above on celebrating this great holiday the way some do for Christmas!

This year I am getting started early to make this our best Valentine’s Day ever.

Even though this is technically our ninth Valentine’s Day together - it is our first as a married couple. Mike and I finally wed in the most perfect ceremony ever last October surrounded by our closest family and friends.

Even though we have been together for a long time, officially becoming husband and wife was absolutely one of the best days of my life.

couple getting married

Even though we said that “nothing would change” when we got married after having been together so long - the truth is everything changed, and we have been living in what feels like a constant honeymoon ever since.

Since this is our first Valentine’s Day together as husband and wife I want to continue this “honeymoon” all year long.

I wanted to come up with a gift for him that would show him that I want to celebrate our love every day - not just on Valentine’s Day. I headed up to Walmart for inspiration.

walmart valentines day cards section

Walmart has an impressive line of Valentine’s Day products for every couple - whether you have been “together forever” or just getting started.

They offer the newest selection of Hallmark Signature Cards for every occasion - but especially Valentine’s Day! I could spend hours just reading through them all! I loved getting to shop in the “Husband” section this year and found the perfect card to tell him how I feel.

While I was perusing Valentine’s Day Cards I also saw the new Hallmark Vinyl Cards which include an actual vinyl record with a song on each side for your significant other.

I was so excited when I saw that one of them includes the song that I walked down the aisle to at our wedding as one of the tracks! Talk about perfect!

Once I finished picking out the perfect cards I wanted to find the perfect gift. Since neither Mike nor I eat a lot of sugar, the typical Valentine’s chocolates wouldn’t work. Plus I wanted something that would last beyond just this day of the holiday.

When Mike and I first met we had a weekly “date night” every Thursday night, and while we try to stay pretty true to that, life sometimes gets in the way and we miss our weekly dates.

I wanted to give a gift that would inspire us both to rekindle that habit in a fun way.

Whipped Strawberry Honey Butter

By Leave a Comment

This delicious Whipped Strawberry Honey Butter is made with just four ingredients for a flavor you will absolutely love!

I don't know about you, but I am already dreaming of Summertime. Clearly that rodent lied when he said Spring was coming early - because it is a ridiculous 30-something degrees here in Florida. FLORIDA. I know.

Anyway, I digress... One of my favorite signs of Summer is fresh strawberries showing up in our local stores. I admit I can just about eat my weight in strawberries, and few things are more disappointing than not being able to get my favorite treat whenever I want them. (Like now... when it's freezing. Did I mention I hate the cold?)

Thankfully I discovered a solution - CRUNCHIES! Crunchies are made with just one ingredient – fresh fruit – and add nutritious flavor to homemade frosting, pancakes, cake crust and more.

Or you can be like me... and just nosh on them right out of the bag to get your fix.

There are several different varieties of Crunchies - pineapples, raspberries, cinnamon apple, strawberries, blueberries, and more. I have not tried them all - but I plan to!

Crunchies Strawberries in Bowl

Crunchies are available online or at your local grocer. They are an all natural, Vegan, Heart-Healthy, Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, Freeze-Dried, Snack for the whole family!

Check them out at their website - CrunchiesFood.com as well as on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram!

By 2 Comments

These Valentine's Day Party Wafers are an easy Valentine's Day Party Snack for kids and adults!

valentines day party wafer candy

It's only two weeks until Valentine's Day - my absolute favorite holiday! Midge has already been asking what we are going to make for her Class Valentine's Day party... when I suggested we purchase something, she laughed and asked to look at Pinterest. Nice.

Anyway, there used to be times when I would spend a long time working on Homemade Valentine's - like these 3D Valentine's Cards or even these Printable Tic-Tac-Toe Valentine's.

This year I wanted something a little more simple - a little less time - but still just as cute. We have dipped pretzel rods before and those were super tasty, but I wanted something a little different...

These were super easy and really tasty - and I liked that they were perfect for Midge to do all on her own. If you can not find the Strawberry Voortman Wafers at your local store, you can order them from Amazon.

Super Simple Valentine's Day Candy

By 1 Comment

I survived the holidays without indulging in too many sweets... but there is just something about Valentine's Day that makes me want all things chocolate! It is my one holiday a year where I indulge in the sweet stuff - after all I believe that if love had a flavor, it would be chocolate. White chocolate especially. And it would be in the form of this Simple Valentine's Day Candy which is super easy to make, looks beautiful, and tastes even better.

simple valentine's day bark from moscatomom.com

This can be made really for any holiday - but we all know Valentine's Day is my absolute favorite. I like to change it up a bit and add a teaspoon of peppermint extract to the almond bark sometimes to give it even more of a kick. But then, I have a love affair with mint chocolate anything!  Beware though - it is very difficult to stop eating once you start...

How Do You Say "I Love You" On Valentine's Day?

Valentine's Day Strawberry Puppy Chow

By 21 Comments

When I made Funfetti Chex Buddies Candy last year, it was all I could do to keep from eating the entire batch in one sitting.  It was absolutely delicious. This year I wanted to make the same thing, but pink for Valentine's Day.  I swapped out a few ingredients and voila!  Another family favorite!

Celebrate Valentine's Day with this sweet treat! A twist on traditional Puppy Chow, this Strawberry Puppy Chow will be loved by everyone!

Prep Time 10 minutes
Additional Time 10 minutes
Total Time 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 6 oz white chocolate or white vanilla candy melts
  • 5 cups rice chex cereal
  • 1 cup strawberry cake mix
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Valentine’s themed M&Ms

Instructions

  1. Put rice chex cereal into a large sized bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together strawberry cake mix and powdered sugar.
  3. Slowly melt white chocolate in the microwave, stopping it every 30 seconds or so to make sure it doesn’t burn.
  4. Add melted white chocolate to chex cereal and lightly stir to coat evenly. Be careful to not break the chex cereal too much.
  5. Add the cake mix & powdered sugar to the white chocolate covered chex cereal and lightly stir to coat evenly. You could add the chex cereal and powdered sugar mixture to a ziplock bag, then shake to coat as well, but I find the bowl is easier.
  6. Allow to dry completely and then add M&Ms.
  7. Enjoy!

Chewy Strawberry M&M Valentine's Cake Cookies

By 8 Comments

Last year I made some of the most amazing Chewy M&M Cookies ever. They were such a hit that Mike and the girls asked me to make them again for Valentine's Day.  I wanted to surprise them with something different so I made these Chewy Strawberry M&M Valentine's Cake Cookies... now it is a toss up to decide which one we like best.

chewy m&m cookies

Chewy Strawberry M&M Valentine's Cake Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 stick of melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 c M&Ms
  • 1 c white chocolate chips
  • 1 box strawberry cake mix

Directions:

In a mixer, combine butter, egg, vanilla and cream cheese and mix on low until mixed thoroughly. Slowly add in dry cake mix until well combined.  Remove from mixer and gently stir in M&Ms and white chocolate ships by hand. Cover and refrigerate dough until firm, at least one hour. Roll dough into one inch balls and place on a greased cookie sheet.  Bake at 350* for 10-12 minutes - you do not want the cookies to brown.  Cookies will still be soft to the touch.  Let cookies cool on cookie sheet for a few minutes, then remove to a wire rack to finish cooling.

Funfetti Chex Buddies Candy Recipe

By 5 Comments

Funfetti Chex Muddy Buddy Recipe is so addicting - you might want to make a double batch!

While perusing Pinterest I ran across a pin for "Funfetti Cake Batter Buddies" from SixSistersStuff.com.  Now, Funfetti has a special place in my heart since it is the absolute BEST batter to use in the Babycakes Cake Pop Maker - so I have it on hand at all times.

I also have been known to stick my head in the mixing bowl to make sure not to waste any of the yummy batter - all the while hearing my grandmother scold me from heaven about ingesting raw eggs in the batter...

So the idea of a CANDY - that  I can eat freely without the threat of salmonella poisoning..... I'M IN!!!

Funfetti Chex Buddies Candy

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups rice Chex cereal
  • 1 package vanilla almond bark
  • ⅓ c oil
  • 1 box Funfetti cake mix

Melt the almond bark according to package and add in oil to thin.  I actually found a microwaveable version that came in its very own microwaveable dish - it was perfect to mix the almond bark and oil together in.

Put Chex cereal into a large bowl and carefully pour almond bark over cereal while stirring slowly - trying not to break the cereal pieces.  (this is why a second person is a good idea)

Once coated pour dry cake mix over coated cereal and again stir gently until well coated.  Each cereal piece should be independent of one another - not sticking together.

The Gals over at SixSistersStuff also put powdered sugar in theirs - which I have to imagine made it even more addicting.

They also have links for Funfetti Rice Krispie Treats, Cake Batter Blondies, and more - be sure to check them out and leave them some love too!

I took the Funfetti Chex Buddies Candy to our monthly Ladies Bunco group and everyone LOVED it.  It was so easy to make and so fast - literally it took less than 5 minutes from start to finish.

The girls and Mike love it as well - probably too much!  This will certainly be a staple around here from now on.

Thanks for the PINspiration SixSistersStuff!
